I'm sorry, are you complaining that we could have three starters worth a combined $40-50M/year in salary walk away in free agency from a team just one year away from having a historically bad bench, and "only" regress by 6 wins according to your likely overly conservative estimate? I'd say a 45-win team in that circumstance would be cause for celebration.

Couldn't we get Wes/Rolo for the same price as Green/Hibbert? I'd rather have those two back. Hibbert is way over paid for what he brings and I love Wes. Due to his injury will another team really pay him significantly more than $10/year? He really seems to be on track but will he be healthy enough come early July for teams to throw money at him? At this point it's still a gamble. Once his market price is set I hope the Blazers go after him, him and Aldridge seem pretty tight.

Count me in the group that thinks Monroe isn't a good fit, at least if we bring Aldridge back. The problem with our defense last year was our guards/wings allowed penetration and Rolo always had to always come and help. Monroe would not be as good at that as Rolo IMO. Hibbert might be slightly better but only marginally and he's making $15m a year. Chandler is too old and Jordan is no longer a possibility, so barring a trade let's bring Rolo back if LA resigns. He's a great fit, doesn't need/want to score much since we've got two all-stars (IF LA come back). Plus, he stands sideways when he shoots free-throws and that's pretty damn cool.

Of course if LA doesn't resign, then fuck if I know.

    Pre-Achilles injury Wes? Absolutely.

Current Wes? I just don't know. There's just so much risk with giving him the contract that he wants.

Not complaining at all. Where did you get that tone from my post? Legitimately wondering if it's worth it vs tearing it apart completely and going after picks if LA leaves.

Just remarking that 45 could potentially be equivalent of NBA purgatory.

Everything's a gamble. I agree it's a big risk, and no way am I saying pay him $15 million a year, but he seems to be doing so well with his recovery to this point. I think it all depends on what other teams offer him and go from there.

Keep in mind that Hibbert only makes 15 mil for one year. He will be on contract year, so that's added incentive. If he doesn't pan out, then his salary figure would drop drastically.

The real reason why you make a move like this is to keep Aldridge and Aldridge only. If Aldridge requests a player like Hibbert, then you do what you can to get him back.

For all we know, Aldridge may have expressed that he wilt resign with this team if we don't get certain players. That leaves the higher cap hold players (Matthews, Lopez) out of the loop.

Deng is staying with the Heat, so cross him off of the potential Batum replacements.

Sorry, was basing that on the "bleh" in your prior summary post.

    My mistake.

I guess Afflalo had enough of winning his short time here.

I actually see Monroe and NY being a good match. They drafted more of a shooting Big to compliment Monroe

Afflalo and Melo have a history, I believe.

Think that could make them a playoff team if they land both of em. A shitty playoff team, but a playoff team nonetheless
