That's exactly what it was intended to do. Stir shit up. Hoping Plumlee would give them something to fucking troll with. Fucking hack.
Well, he knows Dame from Team USA tryouts. And beyond that, aside from the dude's sitting next to him, we don't have many players under contract, and Dame is "sorta" the star of the team.
I noticed it too..but he showed genuine admiration for Dame's game which is great. Didn't really expect him to gush over Meyers quite yet
You know how it goes, you hump one Blazer Dancer leg and suddenly there are rules, restrictions and leashes.
A theory: The media's a little afraid of Olshey right now. Olshey's annoyed at criticism for what he thinks are top results, and instructed the players to not say anything to give the critics juice. He told them to not mention any unsigned Blazers, since some will definitely not be back, and when this video is replayed for years, it would look bad. So all concerned--media, players, and Olshey--felt constrained.
Despite Olshey's excuses, our 2nd-round draftees are usually present at this press conference. Maybe he invited only non-rookies because he'll need fillers in trades. When I researched Connaughton for his thread, in one article he mentioned that Golden State would be a good team to draft him. Any other NBA teams mentioned were around Notre Dame or Boston.
One take away I did have was with Vonley, and it concerned me. He talked about how having playing time would help him grow and let him work through his mistakes. It sounded like he wanted to be handed playing time instead of earning the opportunity in practice. Now the kid is young and its very difficult to know how to speak to the media so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. Just something I'll keep an eye on. We've had a very unselfish locker room the last few years and even when players are racking up DNP's they had a good attitude.
Vonleh also battled some injury, so that's part of it. Missed all of training camp, which as a rookie, often results in a wasted rookie season (See CJ McCollum). I wouldn't read to much into it yet. Everything I've ever read on Vonleh says he has a good head on his shoulders, so I'm not too worried.
Most second round picks are scrubs trying to do whatever they can just to make the team. They don't have potential million dollar careers in other sports. Pat is entitled to do some thing on his schedule more like a free agent than a normal 2nd round pick. I bet Pat would rather fly out after the holiday so that's what he'll do. I suppose its possible we trade him but I think Neil was being honest here with the main reason. Neil doesn't have a history of flat out lying to the media. He won't give out sensitive information like the idiot John Nash; and he will talk in generalities.
