Honestly if Lamarcus announces he is gone with the Spurs, I probably will be down about this franchise for a while. We destroyed the core. Let everybody walk for players who have never played together and we don't even know how they will work together or who we could get to fil. Basically you can't fill that Lamarcus hole left. You just can't. This whole thing is still weird to me. A year ago we thought we had Aldridge in the bag for his career, this team was contending and did. Wes went down. Boom, it's over.
Realistically we can't go into the season with plumlee Leonard and vonleah too inexperienced as our front court and Henderson and Aminu as our wings non shooters we'd for sure be in the top 5 lottery
what would we want with OJ Mayo??? And why wold we trade Meyers for a 30 year old Hibbert? I would try to get picks in the 2017 draft, that draft will be loaded with talent. http://www.nbadraftroom.com/p/2017-nba-mock-draft.html?m=1 To get an idea, Thon Maker is basically another Kristaps Porzingas, and they say if he reclassified he'd be a top 3 pick in 2016. In 2017 he's projected to go 12th. So let me pose this, how would you acquire as many picks as possible for the 2017 draft?
Seriously that Simmons kid might be the next Otto porter and the other kid going to Kentucky looks like a big time project another super thin Nerlens Noel.
if we're rebuilding why would we trade young developing pieces for average vets that will never get us anywhere? So we end up with the 10th pick instead of something in the top 5? That's dumb and would get us stuck in the late lottery for years. You develop your young, inexperienced players by playing them, getting good draft picks along the way and adding
Sign Kosta Koufus and Marco Belinelli Trade Kaman to Miami for Mario Chalmers Re-sign Dorrel Wright and Joel Freeland Lillard / Chalmers / Frazier Belinelli / CJ / Crabbe Aminu / Henderson / Connaughton Leonard / Vonleh / Wright Plumlee / Koufus / Freeland We'd likely have enough cap space to absorb a bad contract and a pick (Gerald Wallace)
Labissiere is so much better offensively then Norl, and Jaylen Brown will be a player too. How's the 10th pick in that draft better then the 5th?
So many free agents signed day 1 its not looking good. We could purse Rolo, Koufous and Afflalo. In a trade we could target Taj Gibson, Danillo Gallinari or Nikola Pekovic. Perhaps send a max offer to Tobias Harris but Orlando likely matches. Sign Corey Joseph from the Spurs. Look at signing Ed Davis, Kendall Marshall, or Bismack Biyombo. Pretty depressing; next years draft is horrible. Hell I might consider bringing back Wes for the max but with injury protection in later years and a declining salary. Seems like we may have nothing to spend our cap money on. Wes is flying to Sacramento to meet with the Kings tomorrow (Thursday).
I really like Jaylen Brown he's a beast. Who knows things change look what happened to Cliff Alexander. Or when shabazz Muhammad was supposedly the preseason mock #1 pick
The thing about draft prospects is their gonna suck their first year or two, even Wiggins was far below average as a starter this year. So you're talking about drafting them in 1-2 years then them having an impact 2-3 years later. Heck that won't be until 2020 that it would translate to a winning playoff series. Fuck this franchise is cursed.
Id trade Henderson and a 2018 top 5 protected first for an unprotected 2017 pick. Trade Noah Vonleh and Allen Crabbe and a 2022 top 3 protected for an unprotected 2017 1st round pick. Take on David Lee's salary for a GS 2017 1st round pick. Sign and trade Wesley Matthews to Toronto for Terrence Ross, 2017 top 8 protected 1st round pick Sign Gerald Green Trade garbage for Miles Plumlee Lillard (36) / McCollum (28) Connaughton (16) / Ross (22) Aminu (26) / Green (22) Lee (27) / Leonard (25) Plumlee (30) / Plumlee (10) That's an entertaining team with tons of bounce (Connaugton, Green, Ross, Leonard, Plumlee, Lillard) so at least it'd be fun to watch. Could see if Lee could return to all star form, and could see how well of a 3 and D guy Connaughton could be. You'd have 5 first round picks in a deep 2017 draft class, which you could use to trade for a superstar or to trade up to add serious talent. That plus a potential $60M (maybe more in cap room)
Wiggins was above average, and remember Lillard? He was a stud his rookie year. Just look at the 2017 mock, that draft is loaded
They are studs when you compare them to other rookies and imagine what they'll look like years from now. In terms of impacting wins and losses they fell short. Lillard was a 4 years college player and as NBA ready as they come. We still lost more games than we won his first year even with Aldridge/Wes/Batum. Durant took 3 years to help a team get to the playoffs. So I stand by my prediction; year 2020 before we think about winning playoff series.
Punt... fill out the roster with 1 year guys, hope the lotto is favorable and we keep our pick then roll into next summer with 60 mill in cap space.
