Maybe they offered him the same money and he just chose the Caps

Very disappointing. That's a great friendly term for a guy that fills a big need and in many ways is what I think this team needs.

Very disappointing? No doubt about it. But he could have recieved a similar offer from the Rangers and chose the caps

Totally. He was a guy many of us mentioned the past month I expected him to get more money. Hopefully they aren't thinking the forwards are good enough now because they aren't.

I'm happy with Etem and Stalberg... Who knows, each could have a 20-goal season? It sucks that they couldn't get Willy, especially at that term and price.. can we beat the Caps 4/5 years? Wow, we are due to lose against them, especially now that Robin.. I mean Justin Williams signed with them to get them over the hill

Of course this angers me. First that term and AAV is great (and I don't want to hear maybe he just wanted the Caps because we don't know if we were even in on it AND the money is low so we could have clearly offered more to get him).

Second, going to a team in our division is a big blow as well. Hard to argue that the Caps and BJ's aren't better than us right now. And that doesn't even factor in the Isles and the Pens.

Lastly, we are not good enough right now. That's it. Not going off on some long winded speech here, that's just fact.

YES we can all say oh if Etem gets to his potential, and if Kreider takes another step, and if Hayes and Miller grow, and if Fast gets better, and if Stalberg can score as he did with the Hawks 4 years ago we could be very good...but what IF those things don't happen or even some happen but some don't? We simply are not good enough right now and that's reality.

At the very least the BJ's and Caps are better than us on paper. We clearly are a top 6 winger short. We still don't have a R shot for the PP. It isn't good right now, and you have to be concerned as a Rangers fan.

With that said it is July 2nd. I still have to believe Gorton sees what we see and will take steps to correct it. Klein needs to be moved IMO otherwise I don't understand why we signed Diaz. And what happens to McIlrath? We simply allow someone to claim him? Do we trade him for a 4th round pick or some nonsense like that? Something has to happen here, and I will not get really angry until I let this thing play out.

I repeat. The Rangers have NO MONEY to spend. Kreider and Hayes are probably looking a 5 and 4 million next year. As it is, they have no way of keeping Yandle with those guys coming up for RFA unless they deal Nash. They can't trade Staal or Girardi unless they agree because dumbass Sather gave them NTC's.

Bottom line is Sather should have never signed Boyle or given those NTC's to Staal and Girardi. Moronic moves.

And I repeat...and will do so for Prod also...LOL...you deal Klein to open up the space to add the forward we BADLY need. We have the dmen locked up as you said, so deal Klein now at peak value.

Patrick Sharp would be spectacular, but with the Hawks cap situation I see them moving him for picks and prospects, and we arent exactly well stocked with either. Not to mention a 5.9m cap hit is going to be damn near impossible to fit at this point.

The two teams Ive heard that are in on him big-time are the Flyers and Isles. If he ends up in our division and we still stand pat then your boy here will not be a happy camper.

The logical move to address the need for a RW would be to move Stepan there, he is awful on faceoffs and the Rangers have plenty of centers. Glen has paid our defensive unit entirely too much money, should have let Staal walk and used the savings to lock up Yandle and younger players. Losing over the hill MSL and underperforming Hags for two bigger bodies makes this team better in my opinion, now they just need to jettison Boyle via trade or the Redden treatment.

No trade clauses should never happen.

When there is no more money......you
(the Rangers) will miss out in getting a Williams.
It is what it is. Done is done. Etc....etc.....etc.

Well hypothetically they have $2.2mil left... If they didn't sign Stalberg they would have had $3.3 mil... Williams signed for 3.25 which makes me think he chose WSH over other teams
