LaMarcus and Dame have the star power to recruit a third star, or a Greg Monroe. LaMarcus does not appear to have tried to help himself. It also doesn't appear, from my perch in the cheap seats, that LaMarcus has much of a relationship with Dame. Or anyone else for that matter.
I've been thinking about this, but Dame's shot kind of screwed us two years ago. Gave us hope. If he missed that shot, we likely lose in game 7 against the Rockets and there's a good chance we would have moved some of our players for assets. Now we're going to lose them all for capspace that we can't even use.
If Aldridge leaves, he'll get my indifference. He deserves nothing more. If he stays, he'll have some explaining to do, and I'd trade his ass to the biggest hellhole there is for fucking with our team this way.
I'll take that moment for this moment... We havent had anything good happen to our franchise in 15 years
He mentioned in his exit interview that only a few of his teammates knew him next level. I am wondering who those would be. I think one would be Wes. Couldn't tell you the others. All this "keeping to himself" talk and this motherfucker has 7 meetings. But don't worry guys he also said he wasn't gonna prolong his decision....lol
Huh...I was going to jump on here and blast LMA, but giving it some consideration I am resolved in my belief that it is time to move on with out him. We had him for a decade. He did not come into his own until the past couple of years. True, at this point he is one of the best PFs in the league but I do not consider him able to carry the team as his performance in the play offs have shown. The era of guys staying on teams for multiple contracts has come to a close. The teams that are going to be successful in this new NBA will have to be able to retool and reload every year or two. Yeah, I will miss rooting for guys as I have in years past, but the excitement of year to year changes will give us plenty of entertainment. Later LMA...Go Blazers!
Kinda interesting to think this year when Robin,Wes, and Nic come to the Moda Center, they will get a huge round of applause, Wes more than anybody. Lamarcus is gonna get straight fucking told by the fans and he deserves it.
If SA is the destination I hope we can get a S&T done. I'd take back Patty and a young guy like Anderson or the French dude they drafted a couple seasons ago.
If I had several employers vying for my service, I'd want to hear what they all had to offer. Why shouldn't LaMarcus? I hope he chooses to stay in Portland (and STOP claiming you know his thought process, you don't, I don't, twitterers don't, fake journalists don't) but if another employer offers him a better job, he should say no? They keep telling us it's a business. Every time a team dumps a loved player we hear it's a business, don't get mad, just the way it is. Well, doesn't that go both ways? I'm hardly in LA's situation but I am seeking new employment and my employer knows it. They had a chance to keep me but screwed it up so I honestly don't care if my departure inconveniences anyone. I'm not saying the Blazers screwed up LA but he may genuinely feel another job is better for him. So we should tell him tough shit, stay in your old job? Either it's a business or it's not. If it is, LA is being businesslike to compare all options.
seriously? after the statements about wanting to retire a blazer and how important that legacy was to him and how heavily that criteria weight his future relationship and the franchises direction moving forward? those were responses he was quoted for in exit interviews and published interviews in the preseason. that is why I feel betrayed. serious lack of personal integrity.
It's the fact he seemingly doesn't care that makes him deserve my indifference. This free-agency has revealed his true character, and it's not flattering.
Personality-wise, he's the Kobe Bryant of PFs. Nobody likes him and he doesn't do anything to try to change that. Doesn't this stretch all the way back to his college, or even high school, days? I seem to remember someone digging up an article a while ago about how he didn't have any friends, and the few he did have turned on him or something along those lines.
Also, while this isn't nearly as bad as The Decision, in terms of stroking his own ego, it's pretty bad. And in some ways it's worse - if viewed through the eyes of the league, rather than the public. LBJ didn't string along 9 teams (or however many LMA is stringing along) - he let it be known that there were TWO teams he was choosing between. There's no way LMA gave serious consideration to LAL/NYK/PHX/ATL/TOR. To string them along (and disparage, in LAL's case...even though I personally loved it!), and waste precious time that could be spent on serious candidates, is a bunch of bullshit. This is Carmelo Anthony bad...but at least Melo had it narrowed down to a few legit options rather than ONE-THIRD of the league! I really wish he was dumb enough to have signed with the Lakers - they deserve each other.
