I know there is another thread about rebuilding but this one is going to be so much better.... The league as we know it is in a transitional phase. They happen every 12-15 years or so. In this situation the League has a new Commissioner who will also add to this being a larger transition. We have Legacy teams who have lost their Legacies (LAL, NY) conteder level teams who father time is catching up to and won't be as much of a factor in the next 2-3 years (Dal, SA). There is a whole generation of stars waning (Kobe, Dirk, Tim, Lebron soon) and we have a team in Golden State that kind of rewrote how to win a title. The Blazers have a primary part of the GSW roadmap with Damian lillard, and I believe that the moves made by Olshey so far also echo that plan. I don't expect Neil to Pursue more posts, I would expect more wings, guys who defend and can shoot a bit, but also just play hard. All of that said I believe if there was a time coming for the Blazers to embrace this new model now is the perfect time, whether Lamarcus stays or not. Now where do we go? Harris?
Harris is looking a little tough to get. He has quietly become the #1 FA priority after LMA for everyone left with cap room. The odds are not good for anyone.
Plus Harris is an East coast guy. Through and Through. Not sure he would even sign with us. He was praying his home state of NY would max him though.
I believe the topic was young, athletic, hard-working guys who can develop, not players that can help us become winners immediately. See my post in the "you be the GM" thread for a team that can win next year.
