The Hawks roster is not set – but it’s close. They will likely make some lesser moves as they round out their roster for the 2015-16 season. The salary cap is projected to be $67.1 million and luxury tax projected at $81.6 million and both could rise slightly when they are announced later this month. Hawks principal owner Tony Ressler told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution last month that the team is prepared to spend between the salary cap and the luxury tax. They will do just that. While it appears the Hawks are at the salary cap, they are allowed to exceed it with several exceptions. There is a Team Room exception of $2.7 million. They can add one or more Minimum Player exceptions at $1.5 million each (perhaps Edy Tavares). They can add salary via Traded Player exception. There are other ways, as well. With such exceptions, all NBA teams can go over the salary cap. - See more at:http://www.ajc.com/news/sports/basketball/hawks-will-exceed-salary-cap-when-final-roster-set/nmqcM/
