Ugh, this was a very sloppy game for us (as expected). It was a tough loss, but at the same time, it was an exciting game for me because I got to see the young guys (especially Gerald Green) get big minutes. First of all, Gerald Green really played a good game tonight, Al Jefferson played well offensively and on the boards, Tony Allen did a pretty good job, Delonte made some nice plays, and Powe did the dirty work in limited minutes again. It was a tough loss, considering the opposition, but it was a fun game for me due to seeing the young guys get some real run. Although we lost the game, we showed true fight ALL NIGHT LONG. We fought as hard as possible, always hustled, always kept the energy going, and everyone was active. Everybody. Al Jefferson 20 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block on 8-17 shooting Big Al, offensively and on the glass, was phenominal tonight. He went for way too many up-fakes on the defensive end, but on the offensive end, he was outstanding. He was always moving, he was patient, he worked hard, and he produced in a big way. Gerald Green 20 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals on 7-17 shooting (3-6 from 3) in 38 minutes Gerald started off slow (he started off like 2-7 or something like that), but he always kept hustling, and he DEFINITELY had his game face on tonight. He played real well, and I'm very happy for him. He rose to the occassion, scored a lot of points, got a lot of Tommy Points (if you aren't a Celtic fan and don't know what that means, it means he made a lot of hustle plays), he rebounded well, he was very active, he stuck with Iguodala pretty decently (some of the shots he made we just undefendable). He only commited one turnover as well. He played well. Good job, Gerald! This kid is going to be very special. Delonte West 14 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists on 5-9 shooting (2-2 from 3) Delonte really played well tonight. He made some outstanding passes, he shot the ball very well, and he hustled hard. We need this from Delonte every night. Tony Allen 12 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, 4 turnovers on 5-11 shooting TA got a couple turnovers, he messed up on a couple plays, but he played well. In the first half, he played outstanding defense. Awesome. He attacked the basket tonight as well, and I liked that. Solid game from TA tonight. Sebastian Telfair 8 points, 1 rebound, 5 assists, 3 turnovers on 2-8 shooting Not a great game from Bassy tonight. He made Kevin Ollie look like Jason Kidd again, and he didn't run the offense as well as he has been. HOWEVER, I don't entirely blame him. I mean, he lost his go-to guy and he had him replaced with a 20 year old kid that usually plays 10-12 mpg. The entire offense tonight as shaky, but that's because of the adjustments everyone had to make due to the injuries. Ryan Gomes 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists on 2-6 shooting Gomes was having trouble making shots, he missed some good open oppertunities. He didn't pound the glass like he usually does either. He did alright tonight, but not great. Not the same Ryan Gomes we all know. Leon Powe 1 point, 3 rebounds on 1-2 FT's in 4 minutes He played little minutes, but when he was in there, he (as usual) was very aggressive and active. He is such a strong player, and he's so tough on the boards. I love having him in there, he did a good job tonight. Brian Scalabrine 1 steal on 0-1 shooting in 6 minutes I definitely have to tip my hat off to Scal for sucking it up and playing anyway. He looked terrible on the bench, and he still has the flu. He toughed it out with his new haircut, and he played a few minutes anyway. He made 2 nice hustle plays as well. Rajon Rondo 1 rebound, 1 assists, 3 turnovers on 0-1 shooting in 8 minutes 2 of those turnovers were at the very end of the game. They were still dumb plays, but they were also pretty meaningless. But he barely played tonight, and a lot of that is due to Delonte playing excellent ball (also because Rondo is somehow in Doc's doghouse). Allan Ray 0-2 shooting in 2 minutes Ray played a couple minutes, and got some touches actually. He passed up two shots that he should have taken, but oh well. Good News Kendrick Perkins will practice on Tuesday, and he is probable for Wednesday's game in Denver!!! GO PERK! Wally also has Wednesday's game as a "maybe." Next Game Wednesday (12/26/06) @ Denver at 9:00 pm ET. Yay, a 5 game West Coast trip without Paul Pierce. Ugh. But hey... we get to see AI in Denver! Woooo!
Gerald didn't shoot a high percentage, but seeing him drop 20 is promising. Hopefully he can get some experience in while our stars are out, one benefit of this injury mess.
I had a chance to get free tickets to this game since my friends couldn't go, and I'm damn glad I didn't take them. Even though I loved seeing Gerald get some big minutes, it was just an ugly and frustrating game to watch.
Yeah I almost went, had some free tickets if I wanted them, I still wish I'd gone though, just to see Gerald and Al play.

Either way 7-17 isn't absolutely terrible, and I'll take 20 and 9 from a 20 year old kid out of high school any day. But it's not even the numbers he put up tonight that I liked, it was his confidence and the fact that his slow shooting start didn't get him down one bit. In fact, it made him play harder. Once he got into a little rhythm and hit 2-3 shots, he REALLY had his game face on. You could just tell that he was hyped. After there, it took off, and he played very well. Gerald Green is going to be a very good player in this league. But, I'm really curious to see how Gerald does on this 5 game West Coast trip, where the pressure is REALLY on.
