Forward T.J. Oshie was traded to the Washington Capitals by the St. Louis Blues on Thursday.

The Blues received forwards Troy Brouwer and Pheonix Copley and a third-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft.

Oshie had 19 goals and 36 assists (55 points) last season, one season after setting NHL career highs with 21 goals, 39 assists and 60 points.

"T.J. is an outstanding skater with a tremendous skill set," Capitals GM Brian MacLellan said in a statement. "He is a powerful player and has consistent track record of production throughout his career in the NHL. We feel that he complements our core group nicely and can help us get to the next level in achieving our ultimate goal. We also want to thank Troy for his contributions to our organization on and off the ice and wish him well in St. Louis."

The 28-year-old had 310 points (110 goals) in 443 NHL games after being the 24th pick by St. Louis in the 2005 NHL Draft.

Brouwer, 29, had 21 goals and 22 assists (43 points) in 82 games last season. He has missed one game in four seasons since being traded to Washington by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2011. He has 255 points (132 goals) in 531 NHL games.

Now there is no doubt they are better than us. I believe the BJ's are as well. We'll see on the Isles and Pens.

At least we added Stalberg and Etem...and lost MSL and Hags...but I digress.

    Feel good today...LOL.

Lol Oshie was drafted to the Caps in the NHL game I have.. I should start a rumor site ..

Anyway, Brouwer was good for them. Oshie is good but I don't think he's much better than Brouwer

He is better than Brouwer. In a "down" season he had 55 points. Just a better player. I am not one of those guys who thinks Oshie is a great player, but he is a clear upgrade for the Caps.

With Williams and Oshie added to Ovie and Backstrom and Johansson and Kuz and a solid D and a solid goalie, the Caps have clearly improved and IMO will be a very good team next season.

We better improve is all I will say.

Playoff wise, Oshie sucks compared to Brouwer. Oshie is a small forward and is no problem for this team to handle. They struggle with size and at times, equal speed to their own.

Scoring wise they both aren't great in the playoffs. However, Brouwer is huge and he is constantly in front of the net and wears defenseman down. He does a lot of things in the playoffs that matter. Oshie has sucked ass in the playoffs which is why the Blues wanted to dump him. That does not make the Craps better.

Brouwer plays a harder physical game but neither player has good playoff stats. Brouwer 19 points in 78 playoff games lmao. He sometimes played with Ovi too. That's pathetic

I disagree with all you guys, this makes the Caps better. Simply put Oshie is better than Brouwer, and that makes the Caps better. Oshie is not great or some stud, but he is better than Brouwer, so the Caps got better. Sorry but I don't see how anyone can really debate that.

And the Caps were pretty much a coin flip with us this past season, and they have added Williams and Oshie and we have lost Hags and MSL and only added Stalberg and Etem.

Still time to improve, but the Caps are the better team right now. That is simply me being honest and realistic.

I know Green is not a stud d-men but who are they going to replace him with? he was their top d-men for years. The caps do look good on paper though going into next season.

With that said, I'm starting to warm to the idea of adding Ward.

Caps leading playoff scorer this past season.
He has 35 points in 53 career playoff games. Which is a 22 goal 54 point pace over 82 games. So clearly he steps up his game in the playoffs.
    R shot.
Has some size at 6'1" and 225 lbs.
Based on his last couple of seasons with the Caps I think he can score 18 goals +/- and 36 points +/-. That is a good solid top 9 winger.

Adding him would increase our size and grit and help us in the playoffs. I hope we can get him.

Simply my opinion, but Green is not that good anymore. That could be addition by subtraction IMO. I think the Wings clearly over paid for Green. 6 mill AAV is too much for him.

Green is a solid top 4 d-men. He is not great and I agree the wings way overpaid for him. He will be making more money than Mcd...LOL

I don't think he is a solid top 4 dman anymore, but either way he is getting way overpaid, we agree. I think the Caps will be fine without him. His role was less and less the past few seasons.

Caps have a real good team I think. We'll see how they perform on the ice.

The Craps still suck. I thought Ward was one of their best playoff guys. If they sign Ward, that screws Lindberg which is not right. There will be no roster spot. As it is, they have to dump Glass or put him in the minors. I actually think that lineup will be good by mid season. I believe in Etem. The Ducks were morons with him and Clark pretty much said so. They stole him.

    Zucc-Brassard-Nash
    Kreider-Stepan-Etem
    Miller-Hayes-Fast
    Stalberg-Moore-Lindberg

Fast will cover up for a lot of Miller's bonehead defensive plays. Moore and Lindberg will cover up for a lot of Stalberg's bonehead defensive plays. Until those guys improve defensively.

If that is our lineup we are in big trouble. I know you have Etem penciled in for 20 + goals, but I think we need to see him score 10 in a season before we put him on our 2nd line and expect good results.

That's not a very good lineup, though i do like the 3rd line of Miller-Hayes-Fast. I actually like Ward so i'd welcome the addition, assuming it's not for a retarded contract.

I guess i don't get the need for Stalberg as that should be Lindberg's spot
