I live in LA and have lived here my whole life.

We don't have high salaries. We have low salaries here overall. LA is a big blue collar city based off manufacturing industry for the former juggernaut Aerospace and the ports.

In fact when salaries and RE prices are factored in then LA becomes the most unaffordable city in America. Unlike SF or NYC where high RE prices are negated by high incomes, that is not the case here.

Also while LA folks likely do move to OR, most Los Angelenos both statistically and in real life move to Phoenix, Vegas, ABQ, Central Valley in CA (I.E. Bakersfield, Visalia, Fresno, etc).

The #1 place LA people move are the exurbs in the Inland Empire.

NorCal folks move to the PNW or Austin and Denver more than SoCal folks.

Per capita income, 2013 (most recent info):

    1. San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland, CA: $63,194
    2. New York metro: $58,986
    3. Washington DC metro$57,785
    4 Boston metro: $56,236
    5. Seattle metro: $52,825
    6. Houston metro: $51,459
    7. San Diego: $51,384
    8. Philadelphia: $50,754
    9. Denver metro $50,705
    10. Minneapolis-St. Paul: $50,057
    11. Chicago metro: $48,645
    12. Dallas-Fort Worth: $46,489
    13. Miami-Fort Lauderdale $45,043
    14. Los Angeles metro: $44,844
    15. Cleveland metro$43,321
    16. Detroit metro : $41,930
    17. Portland metro $41,750
    18. Atlanta metro $40,452
    19. Phoenix metro $38,745

I think Sly was just announcing that he literally took out the trash in his home. Perhaps he doesn't do that often, so he felt like telling all of us.

It's going to be really funny when they slide the Manila folder across the table only for LA to open it and realize it's empty.

"Yeah we are still working on that whole basketball thing"

Why is Aldridge meeting with Riley? They have no cap space. It would have to be a sign and trade for Chris Bosh.

He's been in the league 3 years you dope. How can you use tons he's done in the league to say he's lesser than a rookie who never even played yet? You fall into the class of typical Lakers fans, who hate on this city even though you have never been here enough to know all that's here. At least we have clean air to breath. Step out this forum and back to under the bridge of which you came. At least you might get some clean air under there, shielded from all that LA smog.

There's yet another wrinkle, too, the agent for Portland Trailblazers point guard Damian Lillard, Aaron Goodwin, told USA TODAY Sports that his client is planning an impromptu visit to Los Angeles to try and convince his former teammate to stay. Lillard, who finalized a five-year extension worth between $125 and $129 million on Thursday, just returned from a promotional trip in Paris. The relationship between those two players has been a focal point of Aldridge's possible departure from Portland.
