players own greed should also factor into lucas and hollins, even clyde to some extent. trader bob and adalmens fued, poor choices surrounding Derek andersons and shawn kemp acquisitions. playing time surrounding augmon, stoudemire anthony disgruntalled stars like Schrempf blame management way more than luck.
We got at the very least 9 good years from Aldridge. I don't see how that is bad luck. Also Roy is a shooting star. He was a breath of fresh air that finally blew out the stale rot of the Jail Blazers. His career was cut short but he wasn't bad luck. Oden... well... fuck that dude.
I don't buy it. Yes, Roy and Oden did have injury problems coming in. What percentage of guys with injury problems have their careers terminated in their first couple of years because of it?
roy had surgey in junior year high school 2004, then again in 2008. led western conference players in total minutes in 2008 then led all nba players in minutes in 2009.knee surgery again 2010.
We're not cursed, we're blessed. We've had some tough luck, but we've had more reason to cheer than boo than most other NBA franchises.
IF this team loses LMA the best option would be a s&t with Phoenix - Len/Booker. You don't lose an All-Star in his prime with nothing in return.
The return is the cap space. You need to have confidence that Olshey can attract a quality free agent sometime in the next few years with that slot. Neither Len nor Booker are needle movers.
We're cursed and that's all there is to it...no one wants to come here, every time we get something good going it gets destroyed by injury or some form of misfortune. I don't know if we will ever win another championship. We are just a farm, growing players into starts then watching them walk away or retire because of bad knees...we have to force players to come here through trades and they leave when they get the chance.
can you imagine a more engaged fan base, deep pocketed and passionate owner along with the resources provided by their lucrative cable contracts? blazers would rule the nba for generations
I like the young talent that Olshey is acquiring but to have $40+ million and come away with a backup SF from another team and a PF from a horrible team isn't exactly replacing any of the talent we lost. 8 Free Agents and nothing out of them but cap space which we can't really use so far. When is the last time we were able to use cap space for a quality player that someone else also wanted?
