Harris is a NY guy and was praying that they would give him max so that ORL wouldn't match. I not entirely sure he would even sign with us if we give him max. He is an East Coast guy through and through But some people just don't understand they can get a on a plane with that kind of money anytime they want...
...at this point, getting Tobias Harris would be a crowning achievement for this roller-coaster of a free agency period. He is only 22 years old and has proven that "he got game"!
What on earth is going on in Olshey's mind?!?! Why didn't he bag Harris already? He is the best thing we can get right now but Olshey is too busy signing all these unwanted role players. Reasons to sign Harris: 1.Very young, but puts double digits and has more potential to grow. 2.Fits our system better than Monroe + can stretch the floor. He can be our athletic Draymond Green. 3.Pretty good defensively. 4.Giving a max deal for a 23yr old is not like giving a max deal to a 29 yr old, it's considerably lower and we can definitely take the financial hit. 5.Olshey lost all his assets and all he did was sign guys with question marks above their heads (=low trade value). Harris is a great trade asset down the line (think about the rising cap), This is a very Daryl Morey- type move (=the correct move). Why isn't he chasing after Gerald Green as well? 12ppg for 19mpg is pretty awesome, Aaron Brooks was pretty good in Chicago and no one is chasing him (12ppg off the bench). Why are we in 100% tanking mode before a weak draft? Olshey thinks he can land a superstar for Aminu,Davis and a draft pick? btw, i'm new to the forum. HowYodoin'? etc...
Other RFA's have gotten paid big early this year. Thinking this has a lot to do with why Harris has not signed yet. Reports are that Orlando would not match. I am not so sure. Even if they do not want him, his max contract at today's prices would be a steal in a couple of years. Would probably be better than anything they could do with that cap space.
What RFA's have left teams so far? Are teams waiting for the signing moratorium to be over to make offers to Harris, Kanter, Reggie Jackson and Pat Beverley?
Was just pointing out that Green, Leonard, and Middleton all got paid. Correct that no RFA's have left yet. With the crazy money going around Harris should be a no brainer. If a team makes an offer to one of the players you listed, my guess is that it happens after the moratorium.
Exactly. I'm sure he would listen to a Max offer from us but unless no one else came close, I doubt he comes this far West. He certainly would fit the age/direction Olshey seems to be going and would add shooting and some toughness. I think he'd be a very good fit here but doubt it happens and who knows if NeO is even considering an offer.
A quick look at the highlights for Harris on you tube and one thing that stands out is appears that he has a game mid range game which is something we havent had a lot of. I would love to see some stats to back up my eye test.
No teams want their money tied up in a contract offer that they are unsure will be matched. The league shortened the matching period from one week to three days at least. Since nobody can sign contracts until the 9th, I guess the wait for Blazer fans will drag on a while.
Harris attacks the rim and looks to slash first when he has the ball. He's the anti-Batum. Reminds me a bit of a poor man's Paul George.
Exactly. Almost everyone wants Harris, he will get his max deal soon enough. If Neil thought he had a realistic chance he would do it. More than likely our best bet for using our cap space that everyone thinks is worthless will absorbing a contract.
