I had to make an account just to make this post. I simply cannot understand why any of you guys would boo lamarcus/burn his jersey. You do remember that that this is the same guy that postponed surgery on his thumb and chose to play through the pain to give his team a better chance right? And who carried us in that playoff series against houston with consecutive 40+ point games and averages of 30-11? LA is all heart and desire and there's nothing that he cares about more than winning so how can you blame him for giving himself the best opportunity to do so?? And regarding him dragging out this whole process, I’m sure if you were in his position, you would want to consider all your options before making such a life-changing decision such as this. We as fans should be grateful for everything he's done for this team (regardless of his decision) just as he's grateful for everything the city has done for him. There's something special brewing in ripcity and if LA doesn't want to be a part of that, then that's on him, but who are we to boo him after everything he's done for us in the past 9 years?! I would have expected this kind of behaviour from laker fans but not blazer fans. I would encourage all of you thinking about booing him/burning his jersey to reconsider as that goes against everything this organisation is about IMO. /rant p.s. I for one am very excited about this new team that we’re building with a great character like Lillard leading the way.
A year ago he said he wanted to be a Blazer forever. Great. Recently, he said the idea of moving to Texas where is from has some appeal. OK, check them out. Then, he took meetings with half the league including the Knicks and the Suns and the Lakers. Maybe he's been lying to us. Maybe he's disloyal. Whatever it is, it's not obviously good. If he didn't want to be here, he could have done a Kevin Love and we could have traded him for KAT or something like Minny did. As it turns out, we could be losing an all-star for nothing but cap space. This type of thing sets organizations back by YEARS, yes YEARS. So, not everyone's hunky dory about it.
Awesome first post! Don't let the Debbie downers get you down. I just dropped 5 tabs of acid, so nothing can bring me down
Well let's see 1) He said he wanted to retire as the greatest Blazer of all time. And that was within the last year. 2) He said he wanted to re-sign but he wanted to wait so he could get that 5th year. 3) If he wants to leave Portland, he doesn't have the guts to just come out and say he's not coming back. 4) Supposedly he has said he wants to be "the man," but he talks to teams like San Antonio, LA, and Dallas. 5) Supposedly he wants to win, but he's talking to teams like Phoenix. If you believe all the rumors, he has said that he's not happy that Lillard gets all the attention. I believe this is true because he basically said the same thing about Roy, and that wasn't a rumor. He publicly said that he felt left out when Roy and Oden were getting all the attention. It sounds like he is feeling the same way about Dame. Plus, the way he has conducted all these meetings after saying that he didn't want to draw it out is rather unprofessional.
Lol I'm joking bro!!!! I won't drop acid again until my baby is old enough to go to grandmas for the night
Said he was happy and would sign a max deal with the Blazers. Had a great year last year before Matthews went down. Let one injury be an indictment against the franchise and is choosing to leave (if he leaves). His rift with Damian because of his jealousy is pathetic. If he feels like he's being looked over as face of the franchise, he could have asserted himself. Damian never tried to "steal the team away from him". It takes multiple all stars to win. A PF and a PG is supposed to be a match made in heaven. There's no reason for them not to be a dynamic duo. LA is a diva
Not all of us think like that though. Sure some Blazer fans will say "you should appreciate Lamarcus" and whatever but his actions off the court is why he will always get shit here. The shit he said a year ago. He gave a verbal agreement. Straight lied. Neil and Paul were right at his doorstep last year at 9:01 when free agency began to offer him this for this Summer. We got him what he wanted and we are still trying despite the long shot. That should show him how important he is to us. Instead. Meet with 7 teams. Leave us hanging. I get it, it's an important decision but a 2nd meeting with the Lakers? I accepted he is more than likely gone a few days ago but it still hurts.
As my parents always said to me, "Im not mad, Im disappointed" Which was always way worse for me. It could have been handled better but whether he handles it bad or good its the same result. He could have handled it perfectly and we still would have been bummed and our team is our team next year. So if he goes then its just time and Im ready to move on.
Did D Wade get mad at Lebron when he DID steal the show in Miami? We got the 9 year veteran jealous of a 4 year guy because he's more marketable. Damian has shown more love and desire to be here than LMA has his whole 9 years here. It takes multiple all stars to win for the most part. Damian never did anything to this dude. And B Roy was rightfully so the franchise guy at the time given the fact that Lamarcus didn't start doing numbers till about 4 years ago.
I loved having LMA a Blazer and understand fully wanting to move on. He gave us 9 good years, and should be given respect on the way out. He may have said a couple tiny fibs over the years about wanting to be a Blazer forever, or he could have changed his mind. Either way, he held up his end of the bargain by playing hard and trying to win for many years. He will always be a player I root for, just less so than if he remained a Blazer.
1) That was to avoid reducing his worth in what he knew was his contract year, though we didn't. 2) That was the 2 games in his career that he played like he was always capable, like a superstar, against 2nd- year defender Terrence Jones. In the rest of the series, McHale put Chandler Parsons on him, and he reverted to his usual unassuming self.
