nothing short of a 3 run HR, again........, hell I'd settle for a 2 run HR, tie it, and then what, your guess is as good as mine......
and no not that kind of crack, (either a plumber bent over ala Terry Forster), and not the crack some smoke either...... C'Mon Tex.......take 'em downtown.......
Oh yeah, the fireworks got started a bit early, I'd of held them til Tampa came back up to bat, but a true fitting blast in the sky, with Brian Mc's can do HR, CYA Tampa.. I swear the way the AL East is playing, all East Teams are going to beat up each other, to a degree, I hope the AL East still has gas in their tank come Playoff time..... this team goes from making me scratch my head for plenty of WTF moments, to a game like tonight's, enough to give any Fan, reason to hopefully believe, even tho' some of the parts to this Club are missing......no doubt they can compete, when the offense takes their Iron supplements, in lieu of being anemic w/the bats....... Overall a nice game......
McCann is one guy I'm glad to see getting back to snuff. Damn good catcher, gamer, had a rough time adjusting to AL pitching last year but seems to be right on track.
My exact sentiments too, and that of most others too.... Brian has found his groove this year, and its great to see him return to the form and successes he had in Atlanta........Yeah......! Break out the Homer Hankies, no wait, I blew my nose in it........shucks.......
And finally on a night when the rest of the division lost. Great start to the 4th of July weekend indeed.
July 4th is a good day for that. Hopefully Pineda brings a dominant start tomorrow afternoon. Quick turnaround.
And we'll take our chances with the HR.....they count too....especially when they come with runners on base. Plenty more where that came from as the season moves along. Yankee Stadium - house of horrors for opposing pitchers. This isn't exactly something new....been going on for decades. The secret/trick is to have lineups with a few leftys who can pull The Big Fly to RF. They don't all have to be fancy ".300 hitters"....they just have to make sure they pop a few here and there. Of course RH are also welcome to hit a few. Arod and Tex did contributed "hits" in the winning inning. Arod is such great smart hitter....I think he can hit over .300 if he chooses to punch oppo singles here and there through infield holes more often - at his age.
to be honest, in the Minors, I like how the winner of the 1st half, have to play the winner of the last half, for a best of 3 game Championship..... But this wouldn't work in MLB, although 81 was just that......
Honestly, I was kinda' surprised the Umps reversed the call, tho' I thought DD got to Longoria when he lifted his cleats, yet, to overturn a play that close of maybe 1/2 to 1/4 of an inch (perhaps), and the replay couldn't show daylight b/t Evan's cleats and the bag, yet there was no doubt (obviously) Evan's foot indeed left the bag just enough, to create on helluva fine call by Joe's replay guy in the clubhouse......
Someone remind me again, why the Yanx can't have a Longoria at 3rd, or a Machado even better, IMO........ the yanks had to know A-Rod was going to be a DH sooner than latter, rather than try him back at 3rd, especially with his 2 hip surgeries. And we get Headley, why not Uribe, he could of been had for a wing and a prayer, 2nd in Gold Glove balloting 2 yrs in a row, and Juan can hit too........I'm just not impressed with Headley's combos of errors, albeit fielding and throwing......
