that Sheppard hasn't signed. Wonder if Gorton told his agent, we are going to get rid of Glass. Wait, we'll sign you on a one year deal. With all the other crap that has been signed by other teams, I can't believe this guy wouldn't have been signed yet. Bernier I can see wanting too much money. Not Sheppard.
You give me Sheppard at Glass' contract, or somewhere between 1.3 and 1.5, and I would love it. MUCH rather have Sheppard than Glass. Every now and then I stop and think what the F were Sather and AV thinking when they gave Glass 1.45 mill per over 3 years. With the cap being so low and so tight, that is a terrible contract that hurts our ability to finish off the 4th line correctly.
He was healthy scratched for the playoffs in favor of Tanner Glass and he never would have seen the ice if Zucc didnt go down. I very much doubt he would want to play here again whether Glass is around or not after he was a top 9 player in San Jose.
You could argue that Prod. However, this is still a team that can win a cup. NY is a first class organization. They treat their players like that. There is a lot of reasons for him to stay if they dump Glass.
I guess one can look at it that way. I think you are right, but he did play a bunch of playoff games after Zucc went down. Overall I agree though. Doesn't really matter anyway because with Glass here no shot we even want to resign him. To me that stinks because I happen to think a 4th line of Fast/Moore/Lindberg/Sheppard would be a great mix.
Dont get me wrong I'd love for him to be back. He scored a game winner in the Tampa series and adds some much needed size without being a black hole on O. Faceoff help too. Just hard to see him wanting to play for AV after that.
