Re: Just when you think Legler can't say anything stupider http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?pa...OLL270=20000000 <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Who do you start your team with? Jon Barry: Bryant. I think he's the closest thing we'll see to Michael Jordan. He is in the Tiger Woods, MJ realm ... they don't accept losing. I played with Kobe -- he has the most drive in the NBA. Allan Houston: Wade. He has more years ahead of him. If it weren't for that, I'd take Kobe. In a series with the same supporting cast, I think Kobe still has the edge on how he can win a game. Tim Legler:Wade, because he's younger. He's virtually unguardable. What he went through carrying his team last season was huge. Kobe hasn't won it as the main guy ... he won three with Shaq. Greg Anthony: Today, I would take Kobe. Even though I'm a huge D-Wade fan. I don't think you'd be unhappy with either. I love Wade's demeanor, but I love Kobe's killer instinct.</div>Someone needs to inform Mr. Legler that Shaq was on Miami last year. Also, maybe he's unguardable because if you breathe on him, it's an automatic foul. Not to mention the fact that he carries the ball almost everytime down the court, especially when he tries to split the defense.EDIT: Anyway besides that this is a pretty good article and has some good points regarding Kobe and Wade.
Re: Just when you think Legler can't say anything stupider kobe had a DOMINANT Shaq, wade had an old shaq. shaq did terrible in the finals last year
Re: Just when you think Legler can't say anything stupider I'm glad that atleast 84% of the 9,000+ people that voted in the poll know that Kobe would destroy Wade one on one.
Re: Just when you think Legler can't say anything stupider That comment was true. Shaq was a sidekick last year but definitely the main man on the Lakers and the biggest(literally) reason they won those championships.

Yes Shaq was on Miami last year, but if you didn't think Dwayne Wade was the main guy then you missed something. It's not even debatable. When Kobe won with LA, Shaq was the main man (Evidenced by his three Finals MVPs, whereas in Kobe's first two NBA Finals series he shot under 40%). In Miami, DWade was the man. He won the Finals MVP, and did it in legendary fashion.I'm not saying Kobe is a bad player, was a bad player, is meaningless, was meaningless. The fact of the matter is that when Kobe was winning titles, he wasn't the main man. He was solid, he hit some big shots, he played some unreplacable defense. But when Wade won his title, he was the main man. 2) Does Dwayne Wade get too much star treatment? Yes Dwayne gets foul treatement, but if he gets second most foul treatement to LeBron James, Kobe isn't far behind him (All Superstars get special treatment. Some more than others)3) Does Dwayne Wade carry the ball too much? Yes Dwayne Wade carries the ball almost everytime down the court. As does Allen Iverson, LeBron James, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, and even Kobe Bryant at times.

But for what I bolded: Kobe actually earns his freethrows although he may get bailed out once in a while. But the fact that the refs never call fouls when Kobe gets hit in the paint pisses me off. Everytime he drives the lane he is hit by an arm or hand etc and never gets the call but he still is strong enough to make a shot downlow. I guess you can call that star treatment because if it was anyone else driving the lane and getting hit like that they would be at the freethrow line. When I say Kobe earns his freethrows I mean that he just sikes guys up. He will do this pump fake over and over and eventually the opponent DOES foul them no matter what some people think..that is still a foul no matter if Kobe is the one that tricked them into it. Also, yes..Kobe does carry the ball at times(Wade does alot more) but Kobe actually gets called for it. They call travels on him too, especially on the road. Anyway, I basically agree with everything you said.
Re: Just when you think Legler can't say anything stupider To make a point, I agree with lakerfans on the comment being off to a degree. I mean I get what some of you are stating with Shaq having a different role on each squad. Nonetheless, you can't tell me Shaq's presence alone didn't give Wade so much freedom and run that made him appear so unguardable. Teams were gameplanning for Shaq, double teaming Shaq, all of which allowed Wade to do his thing. I think this season shows how important Shaq is still to the Heat and without them, you basically got Kobe/Lakers with Wade/Heat.
Re: Just when you think Legler can't say anything stupider Legler might be an idiot but he has a point. Kobe won titles with an elite Shaq, Wade won a title with a more worn down Shaq...I can see what he's saying, I'm not going to make a big deal about it.
Re: Just when you think Legler can't say anything stupider I think it's funny when someone says something we disagree that the statement is automatically stupid...

Re: Just when you think Legler can't say anything stupider I wonder: I read the thread title, and it mentioned the word "stupider". Now I'm dutch, so I'm not sure, but is "stupider" the correct use of the word "stupid"? Shouldn't it be "more stupid"?

Truth be told I actually copied the thread title and the article quote/link from Lakersground so pardon me for not doing a spell check.
Re: Just when you think Legler can't say anything stupider Why doesn't Legler look at how Wade is doing this year without Shaq and then look at how Kobe is doing without Shaq....Obviously Kobes cast is better, but not by THAT much. All I am saying is that he needs to look how Wade's team is doing now that Shaq is gone. That shows me that even though it appeared that Wade led the heat to victory last year, Shaq was still the center piece.

Re: Just when you think Legler can't say anything stupider It seems like Legler stares at the TV screen undaunted, and unknowingly speaking nonsensical facts; that has to be one of the dumbest thing he's said in a while, of course maybe he had more points to prove but was unable to say anymore. Though, I doubt it. ESPN needs some new analysts for KIA NBA Shootaround.

Legs is actually one of my favorite NBA analysts out there. He's knowledgable, he played the game, he never messes up when he talks, and he gets right to the point. I don't think Legler is an idiot at all.
