We should just tank the season 76ers style. And it probably won't be all that hard with the roster that we have and being in the West. Free agency is weak next year, so our best bet to improve is through the draft. Unless you think Kevin Durant is coming to Portland. :breakdance:

Almost a zero percent chance we make the playoffs with how stacked the west is. You don't get kudos for hard fought wins.

10 wins for Ben Simmons!

So we tank, making this place even more undesirable to have a chance at getting the #1. Nah, because if we don't get Simmons then we end up with a meh player and do it all over again

That's going to be ugly to watch. No matter how bad of a team we have Lillard is never going to quit. He'll destroy himself fighting for wins.

It is not only obvious.... It's the only option at this point. We don't have much to offer in trade, and there are exciting free agents remaining (at least that aren't restricted).

Young guys don't develop if your goal is losing. We gotta bunch of hardworking guys now, and what, we're gonna tell them to take it easy so we have more ping pong balls? No thanks

You can't tank like the 76ers with Lillard on the squad. We wasted a lot of LA's prime years with weak ass rosters and conservative moves. We shouldn't do that nonsense again.

I think we just need to hunker down and wait until the trade deadline to absorb some big contracts when teams look to get under the cap to pursue Durant.

So you're a fan of mediocrity

Watching CJ and Meyers in the playoffs against Memphis...I think we're selling these young guys short..they should win some games
and Plumlee/Davis are both underrated too. I think people forget who we actually have now or don't know much about them

We now have big guys who can run like deer and are young....except Kaman...older teams might have experience but they'll have to be deep to keep up with a roster of up and coming talents like we're pursuing. I think some older stars are going to show it next season.

We all know this is not a win now plan but a year to evaluate, develop and acclimate to the system. I still think going young is exciting, even if the roster isn't stacked with marquis names

I think you need to step back and imagine them when defenses focus and scheme for them.
ok. They can tell their big men to stand on the perimeter gaurding Meyers. Fine by me. Hell, going into game 5 Joerger said they had a "CJ McCollum problem" then he dropped 33 on a great defense.

I get that point but both these guys are known as high BBIQ students of the game..to take that step they need to scheme for those guys as well. That's the nature of the game for all NBA players, some do and some don't but it's hard to defend a 7'1 3 pt shooter without opening up the lanes. Leonard is an elite shooter and vastley improved defensively. CJ is going to have more trouble being a tweener

Howd that game turn out?

The beauty of our current talent level is that we can fight, we can battle, we can scrap and most nights we'll still lose.

We have potential, but only Lillard's is realized.

Philly did the ultimate tank job. Lets see how long that takes to pay off and what the repercussions are from being so bad for so long. It takes a toll on the players and the fan base.

For the Lakers it should be easier because theoretically they should benefit from free agents to assist with the rebuild.

It will be ugly and painful and emotionally I hate the idea.

It is also the only course of action that gives us ANY hope. Free agency is hopeless when even 2nd tier guys like Monroe are laughing at you. Using cap space to facilitate trades? That gets you players who are over-paid, not GOOD players. With the cap/luxury tax threshold about to jump, no team will be trading decent players in a salary dump. This will be the worst season in recent memory for trying that approach.

The draft is our only hope of gaining a second stud to go with Dame. At that point, assuming you have preserved your cap space, the presence of 2 young impact players put you in the hunt for something other than the bargain bin FAs.

More reason to try and add a star and not more role players
I get you bro. I'm okay with "tank fest" but I guarantee Dame isn't. He will play to win every game because he's got the "it" factor. If you want to tank, you can't have dame.

This is always a misconception with people. I want them to try and win every game. I just want it to be with young guys
I honestly think, even with the players we already have, we will still be a 38-44 win team. Call me crazy
