I hope that is true. Heck, I hope every team EXCEPT the Blazers go on a spending spree on the 2nd and 3rd tier guys who are left.
I was thinking the same. Go young with what we have, get them experience and hope to hell that someone during the season needs to unload something we want that no one else can afford.
Kufos signs with the Kings? Hope Boogie forces a trade out of Sactown and we can put together a package. It's a dream. But that's sadly all we have now.
I think we should just keep it and be let it known our capspace can be used to unload contracts for the right price. I wouldn't mind getting some bad deals for some first round picks especially with the cap going up so much next season.
Fully agree. That capspace gives us flexibility - whether it's used now or saved for an opportunistic trade - or even for the next free-agent period. No reason to max our cap on poor fitting, expensive filler players.
I would make an offer for kj mcdaniels. Been watching him the past few days. I think there's an upside there. If it means we have to overpay I'd still do it. He's only 22.
I've mentioned him in a couple threads as well. He's another athletic all-defense player like Aminu, but he's young, and offense can be taught. I think he'd be an excellent addition.
Is he better than Crabbe? Both 6'6" 210. At least Crabbe can shoot. I have not seen KJ play or at least I don't remember it.
Kevin Seraphin would also be a good get as a young, inexpensive, athletic F/C to complete our stable of bigs. I also like the idea of bringing Kendall Marshall in to backup Dame. Dame/Marshall/Frazier Henderson/CJ/Connaughton Aminu/McDaniel/Crabbe Davis/Seraphin/Vonleh Plumlee/Leonard/Kaman We wouldn't win much, but we would certainly have a very interesting squad, with lots of opportunities for development. I'd be tempted to go Nolan Richardson "40 minutes of Hell" with that group.
His stats indicate he can't shoot but when he got consistent minutes in philly his percentages went way up. He's also very very good on the defensive end. He's not really comparable to crabbe. He's more of an igoudala type (defense, athleticism, and will improve his shooting with time)
McDaniels is a super-athletic lockdown defender type with very little offensive game. Crabbe is probably better right now, but I might argue that McDaniels has more potential.
