I actually think we need Steve Blake-esque vets on short contracts who'll teach the pups how to be a professional and deal with life on and off the court in the NBA. If we add more guys with potential who don't get any minutes, it won't help us at all.
They won't deal Okafur this quick, and Embiid has no value outside the Greg Oden memorial wheelchair league. What do we have that would tempt them to trade Noel?
Give KJ a similar contract we gave wes after his one year in Utah. Then watch kj explode with playing time and make it look like a bargain. I doubt Houston matches if we offer him something like 4/24 KJ and Aminu would lock up the wings every night.
Researching further I found this: @AlexKennedyNBA: As @EricPincus noted, Houston can match KJ McDaniels offer, but they must use cap room or exception since they don't have Early Bird rights.
@calvinwatkins: The number of teams interested in Rockets RFA KJ McDaniels has increased to 12. No offer sheet presented as yet. This was on July 1st.
After signing Brewer, would the Rockets really match on a deal for KJ McDaniels? I'd love to get him and hand him the starting SG position. If him and his agent knew, he would probably love for the opportunity to establish himself next to Lillard in Portland.
Yeah I agree and there isn't anyone with more cap space to blow than Portland. He's exactly the type of signing we need to make right now. I wonder if were maybe waiting until the 9th?
We shouldn't be waiting for anything. If there's someone that Neil wants, he needs to not be wasting time, but do whatever it takes to bring him in.
But after the 9th cap space is gone for most teams. Right now technically no ones used any right? So theoretically someone can jump in on mcdaniels no?
To the extent that anyone can "jump" on a restricted FA, which is mostly a pipe dream. However, now McDs team may have trouble matching.
