They're waiting for wed night then they're gonna give kanter the max and mcdaniels 30 mil. Oh wait, that's just what I'm hoping for lol
I'm fine with that. Dame/CJ/Frazier McDaniel/Henderson Aminu/Crabbe Leonard/Davis/Vonleh Kanter/Plumlee I still think there's going to be a trade.
But for who? I can't see the team taking on a veteran like joe Johnson just because of his contract. He would still take playing time away from the younger guys. Harkless would be cool.
I totally agree with you about KJ McDaniels. You've been mentioning this guy every day and I really didn't know much about him. Then I started watching and researching his days at Clemson. This guy can be a stud. He's sound defensively and if he works on his 3-pt shooting we can have another, dare I say it, Wesley Matthews. Bring in Terry Porter to work on his shooting mechanics and we're golden!
I guess anything can happen, but I can't recall the last time a major trade went down after the start of free agency, especially the salary dump kind since the league year has already rolled over. If Neil does pull off some kind of trade I'd expect it be at the trade deadline when teams decided to start dumping players they don't want in anticipation of next year's massive cap increase.
I think the Blazers make make some changes on the margins, but I actually think there's a good chance that they're done with big moves. Cap space is good for absorbing contracts in lopsided trades, but I feel like anyone interested in dumping a contract for cap space would already have done so to open room for the more attractive free agents, who are now gone. Unless, of course, you want David Lee. He's still very available and some even think Portland would be interested now that they've lost Aldridge. I don't think so, though...I think they'd rather have the minutes free to see what they have in their bevy of young big men.
KJ McDaniels would be fine but Kanter is my worst nightmere. The 5th best big on a team built around two perimeter players. He's going to expect a role but he's a limited player. He doesn't deserve to make over twice what any other Blazer will next season. It'll cause locker room problems. I'd rather give Dellevadova $40 million. I'd rather give Tristian Thompson the max. I'd rather save it for next summer and give Batum a huge contract. I'd rather give Freeland $10 million on a one year deal with an unguaranteed second year as Brendan Haywood has. Orlando and Philly both have over $15 million in cap room as well so we don't have much of any bargaining power to sell our cap space in trades. Philly struck gold getting a first round pick and swaps from a desperate Sacramento team. But those offers aren't available any more as teams don't need much cap space. Next summer cap space will be even less valuable since 20+ teams will have max cap room.
After last week's player, fired coach movement..why on earth would Olshey say anything at this point until he's finished his plan?
Ahhh... So losing 3 starters for nothing and not signing anyone big was all "just part of the plan"? I gotcha.
