If the Cavs picked Melo...Bron would still drop to Denver....Detriot didnt need a SF, and at the time, many people thought Lebron would be playing PG(which IMO, is his natural position), so Detriot wouldve still taken Darko Milicic.

Dumars may have drafted poorly that draft, but I know for a fact he wouldn't have passed up LBJ, regardless of team needs.

Dumars wouldve taken Darko, cause at the time, people didnt know what the outcome would be. And the fact that they didnt need a pg/sg/sf, they needed a big man with potential....Darko Milicic.

Obviously he will end up stellar. Dumars isn't dumb, I know he would have went with LBJ, who had potential to be as good as MJ.

We can only imagine if they picked up DWade, Melo, or Bosh [Cleveland would take LeBron no doubt].
why would they draft a SG when they have solid players at every position EXCEPT power forward(draft was before Sheed got traded there I believe), they need a PF. So why would they draft Bron?Think about it....obviously you can put aside the fact that we didnt know Bron back then was going to live up to the hype.

- What if Grant Hill's career would have never been ruined by injuries and Grant and T-Mac could have formed a healthy duo?- Back during the second Bulls 3Peat there were rumors of a Pippen for Kemp deal. What if Michael Jordan and Shawn Kemp would have played together?- Magic Johnson had returned to the NBA '96 and left a year before Shaq and Kobe came. What if Magic Johnson and Shaquille O'Neal would have paired up, along with a young Kobe?

I think a lot of people are throwing realism out of the window. One guy said what if the 2003 draft went like this, and had LeBron going to Detroit. There was no way the Cavs weren't going to pick him. Also, as was mentioned, Detroit was looking for a PF. A good what if would be if they drafted Chris Bosh, however, if that was the case, they never would have traded for Rasheed Wallace(someone having suggested a frontcourt of Ben, Bosh, Sheed and McDyess.) Also, if Toronto had TMac and Vince Carter, chances are they never would have been in the reality to take Bosh. Also, I have a couple more what ifs revolving around Elton Brand. The year that he resigned with the Clippers, he wanted desperately to go to the Miami Heat. They offered him a huge 80 million dollar contract that he accepted and was ecstatic about ... But then the Clippers matched the offer, and his dreams were crushed.Think about the pairing of Elton Brand and Dwyane Wade, possibly even with Lamar Odom as well. However, another thing to think about, is that during that same offseason, the Heat traded for Shaq. I'm sure if Miami would have signed Brand, he would have had to be in the deal for Shaq. Picture Kobe Bryant and Elton Brand, also possibly keeping Odom in the deal. Had the Lakers received Lamar Odom, Caron Butler and Elton Brand for Shaq, I think Shaq wouldn't have been missed at all.
