Probably; it puts us in an extended position where we can't offer that same salary to anyone else. Might as well reduce our flexibility as long as possible if you're OKC.

I can't imagine Presti matches. He's going to call our bluff and let us have him.

If you're going to be mediocre, might as well screw up another team's salary cap. I hope we max out every teams restricted free agent. This is almost as much fun as winning games.

Yes, anyone we can sign at today's reduced rates and is young enough is a great asset.

Well we still have enough to offer another max contract no? Not like there's anyone out there worthy of it.

And we get a center who averaged 19/11 with OKC, who is young and can be taught defense or used to make an exciting team that doesn't look suspicious when it tanks :ghoti:

I'm pretty sure they will match. I wouldn't mind either way though. I think it is a win win for us because I think he will end up being a good pickup. I think with he age and how good of a offense he has already he might be able to improve his D and that would make him one of the top centers in the league.

He is and he will. Though I think OKc's initial offer of $13.5 mil per season was a fair offer, I think the $17.5 mil per isn't shocking once the cap goes up.

First time I'm disappointed by a NO move he could control - wish he'd have made his next move by sign KJ McDaniels.

How do you teach a heavy-footed plodder lateral agility?

By teaching him to predict the right position to be in and stay there rather than try to dance around. Sabas was great defensively even though his lower half was 65 years old. It takes smarts more than anything.

They spent a high draft pick on the guy. He was ungrateful and didn't play D, at all.
For us, we're spending capspace we don't really have much to do with any way. He's a top flight offensive player. We can dream that he'll improve on D.

We have too many bigs. There's going to be a trade.

Or that he wants to be in Portland, wants to make sure he isn't traded again right away. Or to ensure that OKC has to keep him if they match. Or again, that he wants to be in Portland and wants to make it more difficult for OKC to match.

    agreed that this is win-win.
    If we get him, good.
If we screw OKCs financials, even better.

I'm so twisted by this offer. I think it's way too much for a very bad defender, but .... He pretty fun on offense, and I can imagine some fun high scoring routes. And there's always the hope he can figure stuff out on D.

But I wonder which bigs will be leaving if Kanter is staying.
