DeRozan's camp is looking for the mid-max next summer so if Ujiri isn't willing to give him whatever that is, like 5/100, he'll be traded this year before the deadline. It'll have to be to a team willing to give him that money which I think rules out 2/3rds of the league. I'm inclined to believe he will give DeRozan a big deal if he's willing to spend $15-million per on Carroll but if negotiations with him go sideways the Raps won't get a good trade for him as he'll be picking the team he goes to (from the group willing to pay him). I see this as the only scenario in which DeRozan gets dealt. 25-year old All-Stars don't get traded for prospects unless they handcuff their team. As for Ross word is Ujiri is looking to sign both him and JoVa to extensions this summer rather than let them test the market next year. If that's the case Ross is going to get overpaid.
Maxing Kevin out really puts a strain on the old luxury tax... especially if they keep Kanter and Steven Adams who I'm sure some team will force OKC to match max money on.
With our luck if all this comes to be, he will get a season ending injury in the first game, first quarter............ on Sam Bowie bobble head night..
Would you trade most the talent required and cap space for Durant if they decide to match Kanter? Would you take that gamble that Durant would re-sign with us?
