That's what stats are for...to find and note AS MANY different ones as you can find, throw them into the mix, evaluate, and make judgements and comparisons with players as they pertain to your team and how they may or may not be "good enough". " They" even have stats which help indicate how often a player hits the ball well w/risp despite his BA w/risp. David Cone oftens cites not very well known or renowned " stats". Indeed picking from rare CHERRY Trees. What the hell does he know? Lol.....he's only reading the same numbers GMs and minor league player development personnel are reading.
I'm sure Drew reads all the stories, gets questions about this kid. Has to be a relief to see the pressure shift off of him.
I really hope the kid does so well while he's here that the Yankees will find it difficult to send him back down. I also want to be part of a large group singing Drew's goodbye song, " na na hey hey goodbye".
As long as he does not play 2nd like the A's SS Marcos Semien, he'll be fine. Besides, is there anyone down on the farm to help him with his defense?
Hold off on your serenade, you could be saying hello to the new backup SS/2b. Which I suspected once it became clear Drew wasn't going to turn it around and get any better. Only a matter of time before the Yanks called up Refsnyder under those circumstances as long as he was still hitting and wasn't a butcher defensively. Yanks knew what they were doing and to be fair...it's not as if they're in BAD shape as they make the current move. By the way...anyone notice Baltimore needed a walk off HR to stay within 3 games of the Yanks? Yanks could've had a real legitimate fair chance to end the first half 5-6 games in first place. Oh those HRs....turn games around so quickly. But we already knew this... ...from Miller Huggins, Earl Weaver to Joe Girardi (Yanks lead in HRs 2009). Anyone remember Matsui in 2009 WS? Of COURSE you do. Not to say you don't need good consistent pitching and play good basic situation baseball when called upon, yes indeed.....especially GOOD pitching. Ah sh!t, too bad Baltimore eventually won on a HOME RUN.... Lol
Born in Seoul, South Korea. Grad of Arizona U. Stats in Scranton this year: In 81 games.... BA .290 90 Hits, 17 Dbls, 7 HRs. 10 SB. 37 RBIs. 44 Wlks. 44 SOs. 13 Errors. Only 2 errors since first week of June.* Let's see how these 2 days go. Good luck, Rob. *If Stephen Drew is glad to have you on board, you must know the 2B job is yours to keep.
Blasted no. I agree he was the best with the bat, and it would have been nice if he could have stayed if the contract was shorter, but he was a lazy runner and wasn't the absolute best with the glove...
While he had an error yesterday, I still think he's the best option as of now and I'm still glad he's been brought up
While that error was debatable (Miller?), that swing is not, and neither was that HR. I really like seeing the Yanks call young guys up. It's been a long time (almost never) since we've seen them rotate young guys through. Sure, some for a cup of coffee and gone, but it's refreshing…especially since they are winning. Let's hope Refsnyder is here to stay!
Refsnyder is "sticking" and , just curious, after YOU dump Drew, who do you have in mind as the backup SS and 2b? A significant part of the "PLAN" is on schedule....Yanks gave Drew an ample opportunity while also having Refsnyder get enough seasoning (defensively) at AAA and lo and behold, Refsnyder has ALREADY made his debut BEFORE the All Star break with the Yanks in first place by a couple few games. It's all good for now.....I won't lose any sleep until the Yanks are well behind the eight ball. Let me know when I should be "concerned". lol
I'd prefer drew to stay and backup 2nd and ss. Next up should be severino who is absolutely dominating triple A and might be our 2nd or 3rd best starting option up here right now as we speak. Judge looks like he may need a little more triple a time but if they can find a sucker (angels) or mets who will take beltran off their hands I wouldnt mind seeing him up earlier. That was a bomb refsnyder hit and that error should have been miller. The kid looks ok to me in the field the chances I've seen him have so far. The bat is no doubt
