We didn't do anything but sign an undrafted FA to a minimum contract. Aside from taking up a roster spot, I don't see how he's really high-risk, though he could clearly be high-reward. But, I too do like this signing.

Evidently he has a 7'1 wingspan and an 8 foot 8 standing reach. Those are batum numbers.

I meant on the court, not on the books. Barton was high risk/high reward on the court because you literally didn't know what he'd do.

Ultimately the Blazers like him enough to lock him up for at least a year max 3 years.

Yah and according to realgm he's the only non drafted guy on the summer league team with a contract.

They worked him out before the draft too. They obviously see something they like. Let's see if it leads anywhere.

If he pans out, the Blazers can redo the blimp in his image.

he's never played at a high level, so who knows if he can make the leap, but on paper theres a bunch to like about this guy. At 6'8 his main position has been SG but he also plays 1 and 3 regularly. He is lanky as a tetradactyl and has the with his athleticism he can theoretically cover PG's which will be huge. His shot is smooth and quick, and he has some range, however in all the clips I saw it was inside or outside, no middle ground. The man has handles and the ability to break ankles. Just from an excitement standpoint, thats some fun-ass-shit!

On the downside, looks like he's going to have a hard time not getting pushed around which is likely going to make SF a difficult spot. He never drives left, although close in he does finish with the left hinting that he could learn. Most of all, having never played at a high level, it's just impossible to know if he will be able to adjust to NBA speed, power and talent level.

But most certainly worth the risk. Should be fun to watch, and I hope he proves he's got what it takes.

Love the signing. Is he our answer for a tall point guard? I was impressed with his highlights,
but he nothing like Woods. Q was 220 and over powered players in summer league. This guy is 185 and actually looks like he can eventually be able to play the point.

    Maybe a Shaun Livingston type????

That was my comp too. But more athletic/agile (than pre-injury Shaun).

But with less court vision and passing.

Don't you love trying to do player comparisons? LOL

So instead of punching opponents in the groin he will finger gouge 3 Stooges style.
