You need to stop using the term "colored" in the forum... It's racist and offensive. Point blank...

I don't think there is, FWIW. What's offensive to some isn't to others. Maybe Eric saying he had sex with an NBA player is offensive to someone who thinks homosexuality is a sin. We can't please everyone. I think the way to solve it is to ignore the person, or people who may be offending you.

There is no forum rule covering this. I would ask that if something said is offense to someone that they respect the person and the community and stop saying it. If it continues to be a problem I will step in.

Personally, I would say if you have to define what kind of offensive you are talking about it's best to just let it go. Tongue in cheek, ironic, humorous, justified, etc. putting a word in front of offensive doesn't do much to make it less offensive.

Sometimes, just because you believe a certain way, whether in the majority, or minority, it is best, to keep said beliefs inside and not try to push them on others, especially ones so controversial as racism, homosexuality and religion. And if you cant, then you had best be prepared for reactions. Sometimes, just a bit of thought put into what we say and type can go ALONG ways, and doesnt compromise your beliefs

The only answer to peace is a compromise and understanding of multiple points of view. As much as you have the right to say what you want and believe what you believe, others have the right to voice how your words make them feel. Most people understand ignoring a situation or person does little to help in the long run, but rather brings temporary relief that quickly dissipates. Ignoring bigotry and not trying to compromise and help understand each other is what has caused such severe race relations to begin with. Slavery was "ignored" by most who disproved for many, many years. It wasn't until people stopped ignoring it and spoke up about it, that we were finally able to get a bit of movement towards equality in this country. (And we still aren't equal yet)

Did you know in the original constitution that the founders wrote into the censor section, it says that all whites were to be counted as one whole person and blacks as 3/5ths a person? 3/5ths.....
If you think that people are going to just ignore people who are bigots, you have another thing coming. The difference is how one reacts to the bigots. Violence doesn't help, but discussion and debate is usually positive and constructive.

Your right to believe what you want. Everyone else's right to not like you and speak up in return, when you spread your beliefs online.

I don't believe keeping your beliefs inside is the answer to anything. I think it just causes more hatred and spite.

I mean just because some people might be offended by Eric's lifestyle, for example, doesn't mean he shouldn't be proud and ok with who he is and what he likes. Should I not as a Christian feel free to say I love and believe in God?

I don't get your post because at one point you say keep it inside and then say discussion and debate is the way to go?

As for speaking up in return, I have absolutely no issue with that. But just like them, I can choose to ignore them on here if I choose. I of course never would, but I could.

To clarify, I meant keep racial, bigotry based statements used to insult to ones self.
To discuss without insult, but debate ones thoughts, ideas and beliefs is another story and mostly positive in my book.

You know what? I started an Eric appreciation thread. Didn't even know he was gay at the time and you know what? I don't care and doesn't change my view of him. I see subtle comments once in a while that turned the light bulb on, but I don't see him pushing his lifestyle on others.

Furthermore, maybe I was wrong to lump Homosexuality in with Racism because in my opinion they arent the same. One is a hatred of a race simply because of their color, regional foundation and heritage.

These are things to me that are innately black and white with no room for wishy washiness. You cant have a belief that has the stance, you chose to be Black or Chinese or come from Africa, or India, or whatever your racial inequality may stem from.

But with Homosexuality, God created sexual organs for specific purposes, physically. But Love comes form a completely different part of the body. So part of me says I am against Homosexuality because it goes against innate reproduction principles of the human body. But I also understand my heart and understand that love has no physical boundaries, or it isn't love. And who am I to say that as man's love for another man isn't right for them?

In other words, I have much more tolerance and understanding for Homosexuals and their beliefs than I do Racism and bigotry and the mindset behind their beliefs.
