The Thunder will match. What's not being talked about is that the owners are doing much better financially. The economy and their business interests have improved. At one point one of the owners was selling his wine collection to pay his bills. The team was not financially able to go over the cap, that's why they had to dump Harden. Now they are financially stronger and can afford to go over the cap.

Also they just watched LMA leave Portland to go in search of a ring. They're a little nervous that if they don't put the strongest possible team around Durant and Westbrook, both players will leave in search of greener pastures. OKC is in a win now mode, championship or bust.

Yes. But there are contingencies for this too...

They have to spend some money.

The guy is really talented offensively. We could potentially fight for the 7th or 8th seed With his service. I look at this situation as a win win. If we get him it's a good addition, if we don't, we force their hand.

I think they will but I don't think it's nearly as cut and dry as some would have you think. I imagine there are people debating this issue still.

To play devils advocate and counter SPD, they are thriving now, but also see the writing on the wall. If they don't win the west Durant is almost certainly gone, and they don't want to be stuck with having several max contract Robins and no Batman. Cause once Durant leaves, they will no longer be in the same financial situation they are now. If Durant leaves they return to the small market Podunk village that is OKC. They will be stuck in mediocrity with huge money going to the help once Durant first, and the Westbrook second leaves.

So why does it make sense for PDX if not for OKC, I'm not sure it does, but at least we just signed our Batman to a long term contract. Also, PA has far more extra bucks to shell out if need be.

Sly. So if they are over the cap and we are under with this transaction, why not? They are rivals and Neil should stick to to their face. Of course, Kanter will get a boat load of money and leave large tips everywhere he goes.

If Durant and Westbrook leave, paying 15% of their cap to kanter isn't even an issue going forward. It's not like its going to hamstring them in any way.

I'm worried they won't match. 17 million a year plus a bad trade kicker for a guy they didn't play at crucial times in the playoffs; a guy who appears to be the worse defensive center in the league (and according to some in OKC has not tried to improve in this area)? I only hope they regret losing Harden so much that they make a mistake and match. I am worried that Olshey made kind of an emotional move here, still reeling from the sting of losing Aldridge.
