So 14 spots are filled so far. If Neil Olshey stays with young players, what's next? Before the season starts will the Blazers trade Henderson and Kaman for another young big man that can play F/C or maybe make a trade for a young SF or SG. I think the Blazers are set a PG with Lillard, CJ, and Frazier. I can't see Neil Olshey turn around and trade the young assets he has accumulated this off season for a aging star veterans. However, trading Henderson, Kaman, and next years lottery pick for a young upcoming star would make for a very interesting team moving forward. What do you guys think is next.

We need to find a veteran type to teach the kids how to kick people in the mouth. I am thinking a center who's been everywhere plus Antarctica.

We can't trade next year's pick. The nuggets already have it in it's lotto protected form.

Teams rebuilding in the form of youth movements don't typically trade lotto picks.

I think the trade for Harkliss signals the end of any KJ McDaniels talk.

I think Neil just waits for the right opportunity to come along. And by right opportunity, I mean a young starter. We have enough role players, now we need a potential star at either SG or SF. Easier said than done. If Montero pans out, there could be no more moves until the trade deadline.

Yep, I think Olshey sold a good plan to Allen. Why not wait and make sure the only deals you get are ones you can trade if you need to. It's a win win because if this team is semi decent, then the players gain even more value. They are safe bets that will gain value as the season progresses.

Teams don't trade "young up and coming stars" (i.e. "cheap and good") for table scraps and draft picks.

Other than that I doubt they add much more to the roster over the summer, maybe they find a willing partner for Kaman and/or Henderson, but I doubt that happens until closer to the trade deadline.

Well that's a drag, so leave the last spot open and see who becomes available by pre-season. The team as it is will be fun to watch, and hopefully the team has a future star player in all these young guys to pair with Lillard. Even if they turn out as solid staters or backups I would be happy. Lots of cap space and a possible lottery pick next year will keep are hopes alive.

As I assume you agree, he fielded a team that won't look like total shit and a promise that we are headed in the right direction. If we lose, then we have plenty of manageable contracts to trade and get a good lotto pick. If we win, then the player value increases drastically and he maybe able to upgrade talent.

The big key is Olshey isn't panicking which is great news!

I have a feeling we will do a 2-1 or 3-1 trade before the season starts.

We still need a starting SF and a starting SG who can shoot well.

Why do you assume that? I have no idea what this team will look like next season, except that they'll be athletic and (mostly) offensively limited.

But I do agree that the team is headed in the right direction if for no other reason than Neil appears to have begun the talent acquisition phase of rebuilding in earnest without balking and trying to bring in washed up, overpriced veterans who are more name than talent.

Thats just what he wants the Rockets to think. Next they give Josh Smith the MLE and we can steal KJ with a small offer.

Aminus our starting SF, but agreed on getting a starting SHOOTing gaurd.
The one guy to watch is Terrence Ross. He's from Portland, only 24, and is a shooter at the 2 with very high upside. He also fits the athletic, open court player Olshey is looking for. I have a feeling Toronto might give him up to get a more proven vet that can score off the bench for their championship run, someone like Henderson. Allen Crabbe would be a perfect fit as a backup SF for them behind Carroll, and he could be used as filler. Thats the only move left I want to see. We have enough young bigs, and Frazier is a good enough option if CJ doesn't play some point. The only guy we need is a Terrence Ross type of wing.

Neil is looking for a center.

With Leonard now and Vonleh in the future- we're set at PF.
