Man, if Meyers is playing 25 minutes a game we can kiss this season goodbye... although lets face it, it'll be funner than hell
First of all, welcome to the board. Hope you convert a few more from Down Under to be Blazers fans. Now, on to your query. I think minutes will depend on rotations. You can't really play Plumlee and Davis together much because neither players outside of 5' from the rim. So Meyers would seem the more obvious choice to start at PF since I think Plumlee starts at C. Then if there is a smaller backup Center, I think you see Davis there with Vonleh at PF. On the few nights there is a really big backup C, that is where Sasquatch gets a few minutes from time to time.
This is the most logical thing I have heard all week. I still wanna start the Big Fella though. I like his whirling dervish post game and passing with what is almost certainly going to be an offensively challenged first unit, to say the least.
Welcome..I pretty much agree but think Kaman will be playing early and Vonleh later off the bench..1st half Kaman, 2nd half Vonleh. Another Aussie posts here, DUB..down under blazer..he posted on the Joel Freeland thread recently
This exactly. The contrast of inside/outside scoring would be fun to watch, hopefully they can take the next step and increase production. They can both throw it down, that's for sure!
Agree we can't play Davis and Plumlee together at all since neither can shoot outside the paint. I think they basically split 48 minutes. Keeps them fresh and full of energy. Meyers will get a big opportunity this year and we'll need his court spacing to improve our mediocre unproven options in the half court. Kaman is available in games when the second unit is lacking offense. We can basically run an offense through him for 5 minute stretches. Kaman has a solid jumper so he could play alongside Davis or Plumlee depending on matchups. Sure we want to see the young guys play but we don't want them getting blown out or struggling to get a shot multiple possessions in a row. Having them in the game and completely failing is worse for their development than watching from the bench. Unfortunately out of the 5 big men we can almost guarantee one will be injured for a long stretch. So Vonleh will get his chance this season. I'm fine with him watching a number of games the first month and easing into the rotation as the season goes along. If he earns a spot in the rotation before that sure give him a chance. We just don't need to be in a rush to hand him minutes immediately.
