That's great, if we could become a defensive juggernaut that scores in transition my heart would sing. The Trail Blazers of old were masters of the break.

The only thing that gives me hope about Harkless is that Ariza also looked like shit when he played for Orlando.
If Harkless can develop his shot like Ariza did then maybe they can have a similar career arc.

A Defensive man and a paint player. Someone else will be the second scoring threat.

I'm a little concerned references to 'Mo Heartless' from his former teams fans. He does have some talent but I'm worried we are getting more of the 'Bad Batum' who is inconsistent and doesn't play hard on so many nights than the good Batum because I don't think he has all of those skill sets. Hope he proves that incorrect.

Benched for 27 games; removed from the active roster and sent home for 10 games. Yeah, I'd say there's a red flag there.

He has 3 years in the NBA and a lot to prove. Perfect for Summer League.

Oops. Where is he right now? Getting a tan in Orlando?

Olshey! Stop congratulating yourself and call him!

And we got him motivated, in a contract year, for a cold bottle of piss. Great deal NO!

"But I don't like red cars?!" As the man pleaded when he received a brand new Prius.

Orlando ran 2 teams in the Orlando Summer League, yet Harkless was on neither.

    http://www.nba.com/summerleague/2015/teams/

He was on no other team, either.

    http://www.nba.com/summerleague/2015/players/?iref:nba:sl:subnav

In that BasketballInsiders article a few posts above, he says he plans to hang out with his Orlando teammates in Las Vegas later in the summer, where they are working out. But not play. The article infers that like Darius Miles, he places teammate relationships higher than the actual playing.

Is that what it infers? I missed that part. I did see this though:

"Then, last year, Harkless basically fell out of the rotation altogether for some reason. Under former head coach Jacque Vaughn and then interim coach James Borrego, he played in just 45 games (starting only four) and averaged 15 minutes per game. There were many nights where he was a healthy scratch from the lineup. His Magic teammates were confused and privately questioned the decision.

Throughout the year, Harkless tried his best to remain positive. He was supportive of his teammates while also working hard and staying prepared for the limited opportunities when he was given significant minutes."

The last half of the article, he keeps saying how impressed he is that others try so hard, and he wants to be like them, and he loves being around the guys, because off-court is more important than on-court, yada yada. Darius Miles was mentally a child who saw basketball as a social phenomenon, with his team as his family.

the articles date was june third, so was putting in time before summer league practices even started. only three olando players from last years team were on the two summerleague squads and they were rookies payton and Gordon who missed time with injury. don't know anything about marble. seems they had plenty of other players they needed to look at. don't forget an entirely new head coach and staff to evaluate there also. darius miles comparisons seem extremely premature and purely an unsupportable reach on your part in finding player similarities. if there are others that you can document I apologize. aloha

Orlando SL ran July 4-10. We traded for him July 12. The June 3 article date is irrelevant to whether he wanted to play in SL. As host, Orlando had to fill TWO teams, totalling 32 players, per the roster link I gave.

For a guy entering a contract year, who everyone said was shorted minutes by both Orlando head coaches last year, I would think he would have jumped at playing in Summer League.

I would think he'd be battering down the door, beginning 3 days ago when we got him, to get into a game on our team in Las Vegas.

Why doesn't Olshey call him, measure his motivation, and fly him to Vegas? The guy says in the article he's planning to come to Vegas later in the summer to hang out with his Orlando teammates, while they work.
