Dammit, I wish I could grow mine long; it always just curls back... Maybe I'm not growing it down my chin enough?
Could be, it goes through a really awkward stage before it looks good. Mine is pretty curly as well. My profile pic was taken at about 7 months growth, I'm at about 9 months now. It takes LOTS of patience.
Remember Sleepy Sam Perkins? Dude was lights out from three at times. I swear, being a Sonics fan, along with Portland, back when I was in highschool, the dude was bloodshot-red eyed running down the court, and I know he was high as a kite.
One thing that was evident last night in limited playing time was that montero has a tight handle and can create space to get a shot off fairly easily. It reminded me of penny in that regard. I don't think he's a SG/SF. I think he's just a 6'7 pg/playmaker. He could theoretically play alongside dame and/or cj because he seems to have the proper length to guard most twos.
...in two or three years.... But that's ok. We need to develop guys like Montero and Vonleh and keep the cupboard stocked. We're Portland. We need to grow our own assets.
here is a link to a media q/a with monetro after first summer league game plus some expectations/reasonings and what the blazers see in him from coach tibbets perspective by jabari younghttp://www.csnnw.com/blazers/trail-blazers-enter-‘unknown’-luis-montero

http://blogs.columbian.com/blazer-b...teed-in-first-year-of-3-year-deal-per-report/ We’re working on getting the audio of the interview for you Spanish language listeners. But it appears that with a good chunk of guaranteed money that Montero will be on the roster after training camp. But we never know what the future holds. Either way, it’s a great story for a guy who was playing Community College basketball a year ago to guaranteed money from an NBA team after being undrafted. He’s played spot minutes in the first two games of Portland’s Summer League season.
He's got skills for sure, but he seems like a black hole that doesn't really know how to play within the concept of a team. They're taking a flyer on this guy but I don't think he'll get many developmental minutes. Low risk high reward I guess.
Just out of curiosity, can anyone name the last player that made the jump from juco straight to the nba?
