Now that a little time has passed, how do you feel about LMA leaving?

    You overlooked:
DeAndre Jordan was playing in his second season
Blake Griffin drafted #1 in 2009, sat out his first season recouping an injury.
Olshey also inherited the #8 lottery pick in the 2010 draft, Al-Farouq Aminu.
Older Marcus Camby had been traded for younger Travis Outlaw & Steve Blake.

Olshey had more assets to work with when he took over the Clippers in March 2010 than he has today on the Blazers roster. Plus Olshey had future first round picks he could trade, one he traded for Eric Bledsoe his first off season with the Clippers. Olshey is out of first round picks to trade this season.

However, when Olshey took over for the Blazers in June 2012, he had more assets than he did when he took over the Clippers.

    2012 Blazers > 2010 Clippers > 2015 Blazers.

The Clippers job was not really a tear down. Olshey had a nice base of young players he inherited and built on them. Olshey lost most of his base of good players he inherited with the Blazers, and called it a tear down. Whatever, if you believe that, I will call it riding a unicorn along the rainbow fuckup.

True, I neglected Griffin. As far as anyone knew at the time, Jordan was nothing more than a raw project. Aminu is more valuable to us now than to them then. And are you really counting Outlaw and Blake as great assets? I mean seriously, how can you say he built on a great base of young assets? When they made the playoffs two seasons later, they had exactly two players from the 2010 roster: Griffin and Jordan.

Basically, you've pointed out one great asset--Griffin. Comparable to Dame, I'd say. Your claim that the 2010 Clippers were better positioned for a rebuild than the Blazers are now is simply ludicrous.

You are undervaluing everyone one on that Clippers roster.

Jordan made enough of an impact to start 66 games.
Aminu was good enough to have value in the CP3 trade, along with Kaman, Gordon and a future first from Minny.
Outlaw and Blake had asset value at that time.

I stand by my claim the 2010 Clippers were in a better position for a rebuild than the Blazers are now. The Clippers won 32 games after one season of the Olshey rebuild. I do not believe the Blazers will win more than 20 games this season after one season of the Olshey “teardown”.. This Blazers roster needs two full seasons to be where the 2010 Clippers were after one season.

I'll await your response when they surpass 20 wins in February.

You've got a date, and I hope I am munching on a big plate of crow, I am still a Blazers fan. However, I fear it will take a miracle for more than 20 wins next season.

As a side note: Olshey did a great job for the Clippers. The problem now is, he bought into LMA’s promise, like many of us did, including me. I believe Olshey can rebuild the Blazers again; however, it will take more time than most fans believe. I still believe in Olshey, but I do not believe the timetable most fans are talking about.

21 wins 05/06... starting lineup. Blake, Dixon, Khrapa, Randolph, Przybilla. Key reserves, Ratliff, Webster, Outlaw and Telfair. I'm not sure the roster this year is that bad.

Btw I believe the time table and game plan is going to be a rinse and repeat for the next 2 summers while that 1st round pick is protected. Don't make ugly signings for the sake of using up cap space, go into lotto this year get a pick, swing for a couple big name free agents. Add under the radar guys at reasonable prices. Personally I believe Neil has the summer of 2017 targeted as the ho big our go home summer.

After I witnessed the Memphis series debacle I knew this team would never be the same. LMA may have fore seen his future when we we were on life support. Now that we have all these new guys there is no pressure to go to the top.

I think the feeling is like when you've been in a relationship and the other person's just not into it anymore. They leave and you're upset but you know it's for the best and just hope they're happy. You really only say that, because it's expected of you, but in reality, you want to seem them with someone way worse than you. Probably won't happen since he's with the Spurs, but I do hope they fail miserably .

Im not sure how anyone who has been a Blazers fan for awhile hasnt learned to move on from players. Same could be said for the structure of the NBA in general but definitely for the Blazers. Disappointed sure, but hanging on to that doesnt seem like the Blazers are the right team for that person to root for.

And if you are a new Blazers fan - get used to it. Someday we will have our moment and it will be sweet but better get used to enjoying the little moments in between.

Kind of like raising a kid. If your only shinning moment is them graduating and moving out then you are doing it wrong and missing a lot of awesome milestones along the way.

Now this, I completely disagree with. Neil said, and I agree with him, we have WAY more tradeable assets now than we did when he first took over - and he admitted that when he took over, he didn't inherit the happiest player in LMA.

Vonleh, McCollum, Meyers, Kaman (kind of), Davis, Aminu are all HIGHLY tradeable assets.

Also, don't forget DeAndre REALLY wanted to bolt the situation in LA at the time, pleading them NOT to match the GSW offer for him.

We also have the now developed Aminu.

They had ... no proven NBA players at the time - literally, Blake Griffin hadn't played, DeAndre was still developing (coming out HS, makes sense. He wasn't near the player he is today.) Al Farouq hadn't played a game yet.

I'll concede he knew Blake Griffin would be something good, but outside that, what did they have? Nothing.

We have all of those players mentioned above, plus Dame. We have assets - it is literally quite insane to think otherwise, and unlike future draft picks, a lot of them have already spent time in the NBA and are just about to hit their stride.

I may just be a delusional fan boy but I'm now more excited and interested in the team than I've been in quite a while. Re-builds blow but there is a lot of entertainment in seeing the guys grow. That 10 game winning streak with Outlaw a few years back is one of my all time fond blazer memories. I hope to, at some point, see this team turn a corner and at that time I hope their peak is higher than what we've experienced the last two years.

In short, I likely won't even think about LMA until I see the Spurs play. Over it. Moved on. Excited for future.
