Literally we don't hear rumors with Neil, moves just happen. I mean we might hear that he is making calls but the moves that happen aren't rumored. Batum no rumor, boom deal happens. Draft day deal no word of us talking to Brooklyn, boom deal happens. Aminu no rumors of us pursing him, boom he agrees, same with Davis. Trade for Harkless no rumors, it just happened. About the only thing I can put my finger on that was rumored was that Neil was monitoring the Kanter situation, but still Kanter was in Portland signing the offer sheet before anyone knew it. Makes me never quite feel like he's done.
Adrian Woj had Portland and Brooklyn in discussions one hour before the deal went down on draft night. So it wasn't totally out of nowhere.
Maybe he's letting the cake bake? Surely he's saving the cap for next summer when 22 teams can offer max deals.
One thing I have noticed is that he doesn't like a lot of attention. I think he hates press conferences and just having the lime light on him. Just seems uncomfortable. The antithesis to KP.(Could be why Allen likes him) Having this charateristic quality prob makes it easy to do work in stealth mode.
I just don't see him finding the camera the way KP did...Just doesn't need the attention. Which is a decent quality.
No, what you're thinking about was that everyone knew Lma was going to leave in free agency this year back in 2013. And by everyone, I mean a small portion of this forum, but they are just really vocal. I can see how you get those two things mixed up though. As a footnote I am just teasing don't kill me!
Neil comments seems to indicate that this is all about strategy. The NBA is too competitive to show your hand nowadays and I think Neil gets that which is a good thing
I couldn't disagree with you more. Neil is a natural in those press conferences. He just doesn't like stupid Jason Quick like reporters.
I think we all suspected we were going to go after Aminu after Batum was traded as he was an available SF in free agency. I don't remember any media telling us that they had heard Portland would pursue Aminu.
More like a soufle...either it will rise perfectly or it will collapse in on itself...I guess we will see
No one has mentioned the alternative theory to the sneakiness theory: He's quiet because he's not doing anything. He did his job and filled up the roster. It's Miller Time.
