Yes, the American Heart Association has certainly weighed in on the constant consumption of red meat.

The "bread" they use at Subways sucks
Unfortunately, some of these yahoos from sticksville u.s.a. wouldn't know good sandwich bread if it fell on their heads.
I'm talking about "Italian" and "French" loaf bread they use in Jewish and Italian delis in Philly, Chicago, New York, Boston

I like a good hard italian bread. A sandwich place near me uses it and I love it. That Subway shit is like slightly cooked dough.

No doubt, many home cooked meals can or are worse than some Fast Food, but boy'o does it all taste good, (your menu for tonight)........

I'm standing by at the airport, should land in your backyard just in time for Dinner 59........

I had a buddy from Arkansas, (no kidding) who always came over to eat with us, whenever my Mom made Lima Beans, w/Ham Hocks and Corn Bread.........He'd always bring his own Red Onion, and take a bite out of it, like it were an apple, before he diced it up.......

Oh Yes, and BTW- McD's does have a great cup of coffee........

altho' I rarely indulge myself at any fast food or restaurant these days, esp for Breakfast, I still grind my own Coffee Beans every morning, just prior to brewing........

IMO, like you and others well pointed out, all Fast Food places aren't that good health wise for most, yet, that doesn't mean everything is bad.....

Besides, I'd be lying if I didn't admit:, when I lived in GA. and Luzianna, my favorite get away in the early a.m. was those tasty Pecan Waffles from the Waffle House........! Drowned in Syrup, and soaked in Whipped Butter.........!!!

...I remember my first trip to NYC and how incredible and how completely different some of the food was as compared to what I was accustomed to eating. The fresh bagels blew me away, not to mention all the things you could put on them...real pizza was an eye opener too, as was fresh sour dough bread/rolls. I can't remember the name of it right now but I do remember asking a few of the locals (Manhattan) about where to go for the best pizza and they all pretty much gave the same answer.

Yup... I should go back soon & get a few dozen bagels & freeze what I can't eat in a day or two.... Still fresher & better than anything Pennsyltucky or south jersey can offer.... And lox on a bagel with cream cheese.... Oh. My. Gosh.... So good... And then go to the iron bound section of Newark for some real good Portuguese food (Don Pepe or Iberia are tops IMO).... Rutts Hut fora good hot dog... Damn, I'm drooling now....

Best sour dough ranges from San Luis Obispo to San Francisco, CA. LA.....best known for Kings Sweet Hawiian (bread, rolls, etc.).

Fast food struggles in San Diego because of all the mom and ethnic food joints. From Mexican to Thai to Greek to Vietnamese (pho) to Indian to Polynesian (teryaki) and out course Japanese (sushi). This is home for Rubios Baja fish tacos as well.

Chinese is best in NYC or SF. Bagels and Pizza best in NJ. And I sure do miss Diners! Especially for that early morning fix of black coffee and coconut creme pie.

Not much that can beat homemade lox, red onion, and cream cheese (hold the tomato) on a fresh bagel!

    amen ....^^^

there is nothing like living near an award winning bakery, .....

When I was a kid in other states, I began to hear about Schatt's Bakery in Bishop, Ca. Their specialty "Sheep Herder's" which used to be distributed on the West Coast; into the Great Plains, then all the sudden stopped.....(reason being, they only shipped their Sheep Herders bread, which had no preservatives, it would last only a few days on a store shelf, then mold, one had to get it fresh).....

A Bavarian Bakery kept open by the 5th generation, family of the immigrant forefathers named Schatt). Not only do they churn out yeast breads of every type, they also cook over 200+ pastries, albeit, Danish, Cakes, Pies, or- you name it.....moreso slices of Heaven..........

My kids used to stare into the 2 each 30 foot glass showcases, (in the shape of an L), they'd walk from one end to the other, telling me and Kim what they wanted along their walk.......first question in Unison, "Mom, Dad, how many can we have"........just as many as you want, of any and everything. I could never go into Schatt's without spending $50 or more, and its been 15 years, since I've been to Schatts......(Last few trips by it, was in the late night, when closed tho')........I imagine what 50$ was worth in the yr 2000, is now probably worth $100 easily or more...........

A Los Angeles Landmark, and helluva bakery and deli eating establishment, is Canter's on Fairfax, south of Wilshire......some of the best damn breads, sweets, meat for sandwiches sliced off the roast to order..........

1 Block or 2 north of the L.A. Farmer's Market........

If anyone ever gets the chance, when in L.A. this would be the place, IMO.....I used to read how James Dean, Monroe, Brando, and many other Hollywood players, often ate at Canter's, since it was but a mile or two from a couple of Movie Studios.........

In fact, on Saturday Nights, they used to have live music in the backroom and bar. This is where Jackson Browne discovered Jakob Dylan, and The Wallflowers.....(Browne has his own studio and has for decades, often new artists use, as they often cannot afford to pay for time in a studio).......Stevie Ray Vaughn recorded his 1st LP in Browne's studio, quit a funny story, how that came to be.........!
