Why aren't the Blazers better at finding undrafted FA's. We need all the help we cant get. We should be looking under every rock and D league towel for talent.

I'm surprised at that as well. It seems like every year there are gems either in the 2nd round (Draymond Green) or undrafted players (Matthews with the Jazz) that make a big impact and a lot of teams come up with them....but Portland doesn't seem to even try. There were a number of talented undrafted rookies this year and we didn't pick up one.

It's not just undrafted: it's obviously not hard to get low 2nd rounders, and that's how the Clippers got Branden Dawson. This is not an obscure player - he's the best player for Michigan State who goes to the Final Four every year.

In other annoying draft thoughts, it's driving my crazy working out in my head how Portland probably could've drafted Dame and Draymond Green and Khris Middleton one year and then Giannis and Gobert the next. (I know that's more picks than we had, but we had high enough picks that we could've traded down for two.) We could have had the entire lineup for a new team ready for when the old team left.

Your life must suck if you just sit around lamenting what could have been.

It's not like 28 other teams are kicking themselves or anything either...

We have passed on legit hall of famers. We passed on THE GREATEST FUCKING PLAYER OF ALL TIME. We traded Moses Malone. This organization has made so many mistakes that it's impossible to name them all. To sit around and continue to whine about passing on Rudy Gobert and Draymond Green just doesn't make sense to me.

Well. I think it is safe to say that the Blazers aren't San Antonio when it comes to player development I guess.

Connaughton is an undrafted free agent I thought? or did we trade for him? Even if so, not saying its much.

I agree this is something that should be the motto of the organization. PA and NO should be scouting the best scouts out there and get them on team Blazers!!!

Now granted, the last two years, this wasn't the best way to improve the team, because they wouldn't have made an immediate impact and we were going all in to win. But now???
We should absolutely should be the Oakland A's of the nba. We spread guys throughout the country, scouting top highschool players. We should have scouts all over the NCAA. How about scouts in the Euro league?

Rast, maybe you know an inside track about Blazers scouting over seas?

I don't know how much we do have currently, but it absolutely should be much, much more. This should be PA's top investment in the staff. If he has to, he should be going after other teams scouts if they are so much better. Pay them more. Whatever it takes, but we should have guys planted all over the world looking for the next unknown star.

Traded for his draft rights along with Miles Plumlee in the Jefferson trade
