I've got no problem with Dame being a rapper. Just as long as he sticks to his day job. I went into my annual checkup and was was surprised to see James Franco filling in for as my
general practicioner. He also detailed my car while fixing my watch. INDUSTRIOUS FELLA --- ZING!

I find it funny that some of you criticize our players for having hobbies/interests outside of basketball.

"Married twice to the game … But never to the fame"

Nuns are the spouses of Christ. We know that Jesus Shuttleworth has game. Ergo, Nun.

He's an OK rapper...but certainly not great.
He'd never even be considered for a record deal if he wasn't famous.
His style is fairly straightforward and somewhat derivative.
His voice in and of itself isn't all that great.
Again...not bad...but not what would ever sell without the novelty of fame.

    LOL

    Of course not.

But some on here do, from what I've read in the past. Case in point: Meyers Leonard shooting threes and goofing around with half court shots AFTER practice got a few people in here riled up a couple of years ago.

He's no KAAN, but he's he's pretty good. I think if he was totally unknown he'd still be pretty good. Right now, he's an amateur hobbyist, and pretty good. It's not his fault he's famous for his day job.

Real talk now, I've been a fan of rap for many years. Public Enemy's It takes a Nation and Fear of Black Planet were mind blowing. Beastie Boys' Paul Boutique was revolutionary. Dre... Snoop... I'm a fan of the genre. (Sorry Homer, I know your throwing things now.)

Anyway, I've always listened with interest when an athlete releases a vanity album. Most are horrible.

Dame's is different. He actually has something to say and it's not about pumping up his image. His lyrics are good. Reminds me a lot of Talib Kweli.

It’s always room for a real one cuz you can’t finesse the grind
The chatter gets ignored because they hatin from behind
It’s gettin clear they bothered that I’m here
The top in my side mirror .. Closer than it appears
    (Yea)
And my peers they know that I don’t fit the stereotype
If I don’t practice what I preach then you can bury me in white
And the fast life infected cuz it’s full of parasites
Fine with sittin on the edge, I never been scared of heights
Married twice to the game … But never to the fame
Flirting on occasion, cuz it double up the change
Never been a sucker for love or for the gain
But I been a fan of reaping the benefits for the pain
Bein drained after workouts, my asthma actin up
Me and Hou in elementary school had to catch the bus
Thought it was normal for that age … Helped us turn the page
Went from Bein innocent kids to ready for the stage
It was written … I’d never lie to yall
And even on New Years I never drop the ball
Was always a misfit from what I can recall
Never been a walk of life for me, it’s always been a jog..
And ima tell you what you feed the mind ultimately grows
I feed wisely and now I’m just reaping what I sewed
Conscious rap up in my speakers, Kendrick and jcole
Why they askin who the best rapper in the league when they know… Dame Lillard
Stop playin… I give to em straight
Call me what you want, but you can never call me fake
I’m a real college grad … And my Pockets full of cake
If you don’t like me… It’s jealousy or a mistake
I do it for the squad … They already know
CFG the clique and the jungle where we grow
We beating down barriers and kickin down the door
Set the game on fire …and let it burn slow

Decent lyricist. I didnt like the beat on his single but im an old school boom bap kind of guy when I listen to hip hop. Pretty easy to be best rapper in nba though. I havent heard anyone else in the league id listen to again except shaq for comedic effect. Ill at least listen to lillards stuff cause his lyrics are interesting and provoke thought.
