The Spurs are currently looked at as the best run franchise in all major sports. They were the first to hire a female assistant coach, and Pop appointed her to be the first female to head coach a sl team. I don't know much more than that about Becky as far as her abilities, but I trust the Spurs and I trust Pop to have elevated Becky based on merit and not gender. Being that respected by Pop will likely shine a spotlight on her in future head coaching positions in the years to come. If I were PA and I was going to hire a first time coach, she would be near the top of my list. Word is that Pop promised Aldridge he would continue to coach for the duration of LMA's contract, so Becky may look to leave instead of waiting the five plus years to climb the Spurs ladder.

Yes....a summer league title surely means she's head coaching material! Let's dump Stotts after this season! #EMERGING

In all seriousness, I think her and SA have had some discussions. This isn't like a man coaching in a woman's league, where it has always kind of been the status quo. I think Becky wants to seriously be a HC one day, and I think they've worked out a plan to succeed Pop. There will be no pressure for her over the next couple years and by the time he leaves she will be firmly entrenched in the culture of that team. I would be very surprised if she took a head coaching job anywhere else and before Pop's contract is up. If she fails in her first go around, sadly I don't see very many other women ever getting the chance again.

Sadly, Freak, you have a point. Frank Robinson was the first African-American baseball field manager (Cleveland) and although the team improved under him, they still were bad. Just not as bad. And somehow that proved a black man lacked what it took to coach a baseball team.

I remember some years ago applying for a job and being told they tried "a" woman who did not work out. I'm sure they hired numerous men who did not work out but the men were judged as individuals and the woman was emblematic of half the population.

Basketball is basketball. Hammond is apprenticing under one of the all time best. She clearly has the smarts. I don't think we've seen the last of her.

Funny i worked for a company and the owner refused to hire a guy who was way over qualified to be the head of hr for a chick that had little experience and surgically enhanced tits.

Woman should be happy with what they got! We let them start voting about 100 years ago. Next you're going to tell me they want to be politicians and sh-t.

So the Spurs veterans are among the best in the league and now even the bench warmers and guys who won't play win Summer League? Good Grief Charlie Brown.....that is a little much.

I am pretty sure you could a Spurs sticker on a prune right now and it would turn into a plum. I can't think of a franchise in the world trending so high right now. Do their players have a baby whale charity that hasn't been mentioned yet. How can one team be so disgustingly successful.

If she's the most qualified and has the right schemes, then gender shouldn't matter

CrandC's story sucks, and it's flat out wrong, but no more wrong than me having to hire a female or a minority instead of a more qualified white person because we need to meet certain numbers.

I ended up hiring a black woman who is left handed and talked about her partner in the interview. I am set for a while

How do woman contain themselves around Stotts? I mean the man is a walking sex magnate. He should have more children than Antonio Cromartie!

I know I am no catch but I remember the first time I saw Sam Cassell play. To quote Rodney, the last time I saw a mouth like that it had a hook in it. I hope that guy used fame for his jollies.

You'd be lucky to end up with the O'Doyle father.
