I looked at that encyclopedia but didn't see what you're saying..I did see they were 24th in offense and 2nd ranked defensively though. I watched that team a lot. Followed Sheed's whole career. They didn't care who scored and said so all through the season. That was their identity..elite defense, best shot offense. A team without any bona fide superstars. That was their team chant for the whole stretch of that era. I think they defied the Michael Jordan rule that every team had to pay a superstar to win a championship. A great model for the current Blazer roster
Not having a superstar doesn't mean you don't have #1,2,3 options. It just means those options are superstar talent. But I will remind you once again. Rip got most the shots, Billups got 2 and Sheed got 3. If you look at totals, Sheed had more than Billups, but Billups missed over 15 games that season. Your argument about Sheed being more talented than Boogie has been debunked.
And Basketball reference is the most credited stat site for basketball. I would even trust it more than encyclopedia
if it give you joy..ok, we don't actually have a Boogie career to compare and in the end you might be right, but for now...I just unbunked myself..it gives me joy
Right, because you just gave away every decent bench and future prospectsave Meyers, making us no better than 2 years ago. Not a fan of this at all. Im a fan of going after him, but not at the expense of gutting the team. Exactly my man!
Well you'd have tons of cap space to add one. And you think that Plumlee, Vonleh, Aminu and 2 picks is too much for the best center in the league in a favorable contract who hasn't hit his prime yet? Especially when the salary swap is almost even? Haha Cmon MAGS.
Kevin Durant... He's about as realistic for that number as any of them. But really there isn't anyone available you're going to get. Let's just focus on not spending a lot of money and tanking and let Neil default his way through another draft. By playing it safe and by default, he really can't mess that up.
Absolutely yes! You said "first rounders", so we better be damn good or they make out like champs. And secondly, if Boogie is available, that means he burnt the bridge so badly in Sacramento that a team doesn't want the best center in the league. It wouldn't be him forcing them to trade. It would be them wanting to get rid of their headache. So looking at historically with trades of players that worn out their welcome, the team trading them usually gets the shaft. And what if we get him and it doesn't work out? Our trade value for him would be absolutely shit. It is a high risk high reward move. Last thing you want to send them is the best prospects we got.
you realize we'd have $35-$40M in cap space and Lillard/Cousins would be the most attractive duo to join for a MAX free agent next summer. And if we don't get a max free agent theres enough to fall back on to make us contenders.
If we get him those first rounders will be late. I'm just saying Id give up a lot to get him... because then b him and Lillard would have 5-6 prime years that you could build around. I think the bullshit around him might get him traded. I wouldn't blame him for clashing with Rondo (Rondo clashes with everyone) and Rudy Gay is a somewhat selfish player. That and Karl trying to throw him under the bus, I couldn't blame him if he asked to be traded anywhere. Hell they were already taking offers. Tell me what you'd trade for Cousins that you think they'd actually take.
$9M in cap space wouldn't be valuable to them, especially when Leonard will be making double digits next year. Gonna take a lot more than that.
I would go with DMC. I don't think we can get any of the nice-guys-superstars in the league right now...maybe we can handle one guy with attitude on our team and boogie is a top 10 player, even better than LaMarsha. Check out this video i ripped from boogie's loss to Portland this year, he clearly wants to be a Trail Blazer.
Well, I guess we can agree to disagree then. I think if Boogie is available, his value will drop. I look at it like other teams that had to trade their franchise player away. They usually get hosed on returned talent.
