Freaked me out when I heard about it, Tulo will be a huge plus for Toronto and I'd guess a salary dump for Colorado. In the case of Reyes not so much. In the Division. The Yankees need to take note, 13 games remain with Toronto with a losing record thus far in place. I really thought late last season that the Yankees would make a bid for Tulo but old buddy Cashman surprised us with Gregorius.
Michael I don't know how this can be considered a salary dump by Colorado when Reyes is due more money over the next 3 years than Tulo is. $66M to $60M The only difference I see are the years, Tulo current contract runs through 2021 while Reyes only runs through 2018. But the bottom line here is that the Rockies have acquired a player who's less productive & who'll make more money then Tulo over the next 3 years. This trade by Colorado makes absolutely no sense at all.
...^^^I would not discount the possibility that in turn Colorado may very well re-trade Reyes before the deadline.
How long does reyes stay a rockie before being traded again to the mets to fill a huge hole. This is alderson's big chance to plug a huge hole for the muttsies and get off the fans shit list. Just a matter of what they give up.
Rumor is that Colorado will probably try to move Reyes along and yep I agree, I never thought that much of Reyes anyway.
I would think so because like I said otherwise this trade by Colorado makes absolutely no sense. And yes the Mets would be the most perfect landing spot.
Mets don't want him and I don't blame them. They need a power bat for the middle of the lineup. Not a .280 hitter with no power and who can never stay healthy. For over $20 million a year I wouldn't want Reyes either.
...Reyes defense is nowhere near what it once was...keep in mind though, it's the Mets, lol...but hell, he could wind up anywhere.
La Troy Hawkins that is the one part that is the mystery. Had a buddy (Cubs Fan) who had lots of nice adjective in place of Hawkins first name. Going to be interesting to see how all of this deal plays out.
...I've heard a few people bring this up...but he's not an OFer running on that artificial turf...he's a SS who generally plays on the dirt part of the field. ...also, the word is that The Rogers Center will soon go to a grass field anyway.
...from what I've read, the Tigers are not throwing in the towel on this season and if that's the case I don't know if they'd let Cespedes go. But if they do give up and let Cespedes go he'll only be a 2 month rental...because he's a FA next year. ...as far as other big bat OFers, watch for Upton to be dealt.
2018 is the plan for grass. Their feasibility study is being done now IIRC. Toronto has decided their pitching is a lost cause and will double-down on scoring ten runs a game from here on out. Should be fun/terrifying.
...I figured with the Argos gone it might speed things up...maybe not. ...as far as pitching, you don't think the Jays will be in on another starter by the deadline...I do. They were in the mix on Cueto and Kazmir...I think the Jays are far from done.
