Either they really are fanatic about their beliefs or they are complete ass hats toying with their lives. When I think of the gauntlet people have to go through just to stay healthy I think they are ass hats. Just an opinion though.

Well, when they're pounding on your car and telling with your three year old in the car, it's not a good time. It was scary for her and it was a long time.

I wish the Greenpeace demonstrators would behave like ACLU approved protesters.

If they followed the ACLU rule of “not maliciously obstruct or detain passers-by”, I would respect them and support their right to march up and down the river for as long as they want.

I didn't hear anything about Salem having a Black Lives Matter protest so I googled it. Damn, looks terrifying.

But they did ruin a brunch in Portland!

(How did I miss this? There is so much awesome going on in this picture.)

‘Black Lives Matter’ Protest Shames Portland Hipsters at Brunch

What appeared to be a painfully awkward moment for a packed restaurant of white brunch patrons in Portland, Sunday a group of “Black Lives Matter” protesters barged in while they were eating and began chanting the names of black people killed by police officers.

    Exactly....to paraphrase Chris Rock:
"when I'm at an ATM in a rough neighborhood, I'm not looking around to see if (a middle-class white guy in khakis and a polo shirt) is coming up behind me...."

Seriously! The seriousness of peoples response in this thread is kind of sad and amusing. Apparently blocking the Willamette river is one of thee most important things in the history of man kind to some people. Blocking that water way is a red line, and these fuckers crossed it! Those fucking terrorists!

I understand mentioning terrorism in this thread was a little over the top. HOWEVER.

There is a good reason I mentioned the new 1996 anti-terrorism act. I was trying to warn people that “some” of the acts made by protesters prior to the 1996 changes in Federal laws, could now been classified as a terrorist act. A much more serious charge.

The final decision to upgrade a criminal activity to a terrorist act will usually be made by the President.

Here is the rub and why I am warning people. If the President is the type of person to misuse power, and you’re illegal protesting activities go against his/hers agenda, then he/her might just throw the book at you and your organization. And then let the courts sort it out. Even if you beat the terrorist act charges, fighting a legal battle in a Federal court is much more expensive than in the lower courts.

When I think of people that misuse power to further their agenda, Donald Trump is at the top of my list, Hillary would be second, Bush third.

You kids have fun chewing on those thoughts. I am out the door and gone for 10 days into the mountains, and totally unplugged from this world gone crazy, sad, but not amusing.

I understood your point @oldfisherman. I suspect the founders faced similarly grim prospects (and worse) when dealing with an oppressive and regressive regime 240 years ago.

I find it funny how we tend to lionize those men of history out of one side of our mouths and decry modern political rabble rousers out the other.

No wonder politicians in this country see people as nothing more than compliant cattle fit only for consumption of whatever they are fed. Sad really.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming and we apologize for the interruption.

The most ironic thing about these protestors in Portland, they seem to almost always be disrupting people who actually align with their cause.

    Well Sly, we differ again.

I can not equate the Boston Tea Party as equal in anyway with the lawless disruption the Green Piece folks are doing. The original Tea Party demonstration was the beginning of a revolt against oppression, taxation with out any representation. These Green Peace people are demonstrating against the decisions of our, theirs, yours and my representative. The Representatives we have elected, the Tea Party folks did not have that freedom of choice so they had no alternative other than a lawless act of defiance.

These guy do, and their lawless acts affect other people adversely, people that agree with the cause, and people that disagree with their cause. I disagree with their cause and strongly disagree with their action to disrupt legal activity. They have a perfect right to take their case to their representative, but disrupting the lives of other people is out of bounds and not truly American. It is called lawlessness, perhaps anarchy.
