No one has started a Cecil the Lion thread yet? I don't want to re-hash all the reasons why the killing was bad, it was bad on multiple levels. But is anyone else finding the backlash disturbing? I understand why people are upset, and want this kind of thing to stop, but what's up with the seething hatred, wanting to see this guy get crucified?
I mean its not like I condone harming human beings, and I definitely don't think people should become vigilantes and hurt this guy because of what he did. But I do find it deliciously ironic that the hunter has become the hunted. The story almost has a 'most dangerous game' appeal to it...It's ridiculously ironic on so many levels, from the fact that he is now being tracked by the people who are pissed, to the fact that the people who are pissed about him hunting something are now themselves hunting him.
Why can you watch sometimes hundreds of people die in a movie, but the second they kill the family dog people are like "FUCK THAT!" We feel a certain attachment to animals. We consider them to be helpless. A lot of people are angry about poaching in Africa, but there wasn't really a target to focus all the anger and frustration. Now there is. The lion had a name. The killer is known. It's the perfect storm and this guy is totally fucked.
It's weird that millions of starving people in Africa get zero press and then someone kills a lion and there is a world wide outcry to demand justice.
This whole episode is strange to me. People going wacko over a guy Lion Hunting. Shit, they sold him a licence in that country. I don't know why the hell a guy wants to shoot a Lion but I hear the first progressive loved this shit. He shot 12 Lions 14 Elephants and 500 or so other critters on one hunt. Me, I gave up hunting for food, much easier to buy it after someone else killed it for me. Still do a fish now and then. What's even more weird, at the same time all the libs get whacked out about this, going nut-so over a lion, they support planned parenthood harvesting baby parts. Shit! That blows my mind.
http://www.foxnews.com/science/2015...aid-55000-to-kill-cecil-lion/?intcmp=trending jeesh, why wont the conservative media leave this guy alone? fox news is painting this guy like he is a monster. damn conservative media just has no shame. Dentist who shot Cecil the lion wanted to kill elephant next, guide says http://www.foxnews.com/world/2015/0...lion-wanted-to-kill-elephant-next-guide-says/
Because FUCK the human race, right? I'll never understand the protection and care of animals over humans...
"How did they build those pyramids?' They just threw human death and suffering at them until they were finished. 'How did we traverse the nation with a railroad so quickly?' We just threw Chinese people in caves, blew them up and didn't give a shit what happened to them. There's no end to what you can do when you don't give a fuck about a particular people. That's where human greatness comes from -- fucking others over. "Even today, how do we have this amazing micro-technology?" he continues, holding up an iPhone. "Because the factories where they make these people jump off the fucking roof because it's a nightmare in there. You really have a choice: You can have candles and horses and be a little kinder to each other, or let someone very far away suffer immeasurably just so you can leave a mean comment on YouTube while you're taking a shit." louis ck
Is his sister a lion too? Fucking inbreds or something aren't they? The news has really gone to shit. A few years ago a guy drowned in Lake Mead but they didn't recover the body right away. Some news outlet here gave a description of the guy out as if they were looking for a suspect. Just in case you happened to find a dead guy at Lake Mead they didn't want you to think it was the wrong guy. The comments on the story were priceless.
Nobody started a Planned Parenthood thread either? I knew that shit like 20 years ago from watching C-Span.
