This is what's wrong with the Blazers. LMA said he wanted to play in Texas, why didn't they buy a Texas D-League team?
Yeah, it's in the Valley a couple of blocks west of Kent Station, right before you go under the Valley Freeway. It was built in 2008 or so...?
Eugene has the population, the Padres minor league team in the Ems and the facility to provide the best D League situation for an expansion team in the NW
ahh the good ol ShoWare Center. I was supposed to play in a high school basketball game there but I was suspended for sneaking in our sexy (female) basketball managers into my hotel room. They tried hiding between the beds when the coach checked. Never even got to suit up
How much would you pay per game or per season to watch D league basketball? How many Duck BBall have you seen in the last couple of years? I just don't see that many people being interested in the Eugene area or Ducks wanting the competition for fans.
Track town USA man..I have no idea what tickets cost for D league games but I'd try to see as many as possible. Brand new arena..parking, Ems fans would go to the games and they've supported the team forever. Eugene is sports crazy. We even have Rollerderby here, soccer. Phil Knight has deep pockets for sports in the community.
Matt court is on campus. Parking can be an issue and you won't get students to go. They have a hard time filling it for the Ducks. It needs to be in a place where there is no other game in town. Maybe Corvallis......
My son took me there a few months ago for the Globe Trotters, full house, parked a block and a half away. It's on Franklin Blvd surrounded by parking lots and parking garages downtown are within walking distance and free at night. Train station a few blocks away. Corvalis does not have the population to support it. Like I said, the Ems have survived here as a farm team for a long time and to me it's a sensible location for players. I've been to Sioux Falls and Eugene is way bigger than that place.
The only reason you want Eugene to have a D league team is so you can be the admin of their fan forum. You're drunk with dreams of power.
The train station is a few blocks away from Matt Court? When did that happen? I was joking about Corvallis, but seriously for it to work in Eugene the games could not be on the same night as the Ducks Men's team, the Women's team, and the nights they play HS BB games. (That is your market) Plus the arena is too big to hold 3,000. It will look really empty with no atmosphere. It needs to be in a small town where they will adopt the team and support them. That will not happen in Eugene. The Em are different story because their games are mostly played in the summer. No competition. Maybe Seattle can be our farm team
You realize Mathew Knight arena is new and not the old Mac Court tin can they used to play in I'm guessing? Train station on 5th, Franklin at the end of 7th or W 11th depending on how you approach it.
Yes I know where Matt Arena is. It is the train station I was wondering about. If it is in the same location as it has always has been then it is 1.6 miles away. That is a long walk in the rain.
I am a huge Ducks fans and go to quite a few games at Matt Court and parking is literally non-existant there. I used to use the parking garage under the stadium but I don't know if that is still available. Most people park near Autzen and then pay 5 bucks to bus it. I doubt UO would want anything to compete with the team though. Altman is building up a good program and they are finally getting the ticket buyers back. Despite Cancer-zano calling for his head and the Oregonian polishing Wayne Tinkles ball, every five seconds.
