rick, where are you getting these numbers from?...or are you talking about the games after #81 or since the AS break?...I think the Phils actually have the best record since the AS break at 12-3 ....whodathunkit?

To me 81 games is half the season. The Phillies at that time were 27-54. Since then they're 14-11

The Yankees were 44-37 after 81 games, 15-8 since.

...kinda confusing because technically 1/2 is 81 games...but I've always considered the AS break to be the divider between the 1st and 2nd halves.

Yeah I've never understood how the geniuses figured that approx 90 games was half of 162.

...hell, I was looking at some of the dates that previous AS Games had been played and they fluctuate quite a bit from year to year. The earliest date I found was July 6th and the latest was August 3rd.

Yeah I've noticed that too. I mean, what's the problem? pick a date & stick with it.

I'd tweak that and say pick a range of a week so that every year it falls within these days depending on day of the week... Only problem is the half way point is the 4th of July give or take a few days... This year, the 81st game was July 4th.

So, to avoid any 4th of July interferrence, I'm fine sticking with the following week if they want to do that... say the All-Star break will happen the Tuesday - Thursday between July 7th and July 15th every year.

    For example, this year, the All-Star break would have been July 7 - 9, in 2016 it would be 12 - 14, in 2017 it would be July 11 - 13, in 2018 it would be July 10 - 12, in 2019 it would be July 9 - 11, in 2020 it would be July 7 - 9, in 2021 it would be July 13 - 15.

    My 2 cents
