    OK, random question...

What are your thoughts on copper or copper/magnetic bracelets in a therapeutic or analgesic capacity?

And if you think there's validity or credibility in these, do you know of any reputable vendors or companies who sell these?

    Thanks

...when I had my golf shop I sold a ton of those Sedona copper bracelets, some with magnets...buts there's really no real evidence they do anything and it's a mental thing, IMO...kinda like giving a placebo to someone whose convinced they're getting some sort of wonder drug.
...and even if there was some sort of concrete proof that they work, I'd still like someone to explain to me exactly what the difference would be in wearing a copper bracelet vs walking around with a pocket full of copper pennies. :bgrin:

I have a buddy who got one and said it helped with his golf game/wrist pain... no pain since wearing one... saw studies show there's no statistical difference between them and placebos... Yet I keep hearing things... Didn't know who to go to/trust or if it was worth it... for me, it isn't my hands/wrists, but my feet in constant pain... the only time they didn't hurt was a day or two after skiing... go figure...

    Outstanding answer 59.....

I've long wondered why those Sedona Copper Bracelets were even made, (other than what 59 has explained) as: IMO, Sterling Silver can be used for a bracelet, with similar conductive effects.

However, for magnetic like therapy, I don't believe they work, ie, anymore than a placebo effect. Silver and copper both, tho' have some Alchemist values. Those values, are for Oral use, and tho' some claim intake of Silver (you can get at your local health food store). Some claim these things work, yet I've yet to meet a person, who it works for.

I do know there is a lady in this world, who literally was given Silver as an elixir when she was a child. Now, she's an elderly women, and oft referred to as the Silver Lady, why? Because she was given way too much silver as a kid, and her skin is literally greyish.....

It was just a silly fad. The commercials for things like it got ridiculous. A guy before putting on a bracelet had terrible balance and could easily have his clenched hands broken apart. Then puts a bracelet on and all of a sudden could easily stand on one leg and developed some superior strength.

There is some physiological evidence for copper/magnet worn about joint areas. I used to work around a large super conducting magnet, and standing within the 1T and 5T guass lines did alleviate joint pain from a car accident. Magnetic fields do impact cells, especially those Rich in ferromagnetic ions. Small increases in blood flow have been hypothesized for the wrist bracelets or copperfit sleeves.

It's better than placebo affect, but it was not be statistically significant...depends on the howvthe survey is done. But...stand in a large magnetic field...that is a trip. But Rick, take out your tongue stud and remove your nipple rings.

...so again, in other words, there's no real proof.

Requires more data....how's that. In the meantime, I would recommend KT tape as an alternative.

..lmao...what's the freakin' difference between "there's no real proof" and "requires more data"?

...hammer asked a simple question about copper bracelets relieving his foot pain...do you have anything tangible that says it does?

...you don't even have any idea what's causing his foot pain, but now you're recommending "KT tape"?

i've had experience with magnets and copper - and i'm trained in the scientific method (as is hammer). In the small sample size I have personally as well as comments from family/friends - the results have been favorable. Fad or not...absence of pain is a benefit.

hey if you're pitching orthodics..then i'm pitching KT tape. we both had the same amount of medical information.

...have you seen a pediatrist or another physician to determine what the source of the pain is?

Kinesiology Tape. www.kttape.com once you see it and know what it is, you'll start noticing it on a lot of pro athletes.

...back up...I didn't "pitch" anything...I asked if he had tried them...big difference.

...I've had "experience" with magnets and copper too, big shot...and they did zilch for me...can you show me or hammer any concrete evidence or not...(I asked this question earlier)

...and again, you have NO idea exactly what the source of hammer's foot pain...stop pretending you know about something when you obviously don't.

btw...some great youtube videos on taping up various body parts. a guy at my gym, a marine warrant officer tore a trap muscle and he was taped up well enough to keep his Cobra helicopter flight status. he completed his training tour and was able to get surgery after without losing his ride. Really impressive stuff if you use it the right way.
