Now two games behind KC for the AL's top spot. Biggest series of the season coming up.

    Yep, two significant things indeed.
Not too shabby➡ Yanks presently two games off the best record in the league.
2nd place Toronto, hottest team in the league coming in for 3 game series.
I think the BlueJays have hit at least one HR in all but one game post AllStar break.

They seem to be doing pretty well "relying" on the HR -

And it wasn't so long ago the A.L East was being taken lightly and brushed aside as being mediocre and the Yanks not "proving" much by leading this division...and the divisional records weren't much different at THAT time.

Combined W-L records of the top three A.L. teams in each division:
    East: 174-150, Central: 170-153, West: 171-152

Speaking of homeruns, the Yanks just finished a series where the last two games were decided by a Home Run with each team winning 2-1.
I guess the HR isn't needed to win only high scoring affairs.

I've supported Girardi since game 1, '08, best man for the Yankees job, very under rated manager. Cashman, no comment!!!!!!!!!!!!

...^^^same here, I give Joe some credit...but he's been forced to work with Cashman's roster.

Stat give at game beginning showed Gardner and Ellsbury a combined 3/41. Shocked at CC last night, the man turned up on Boston at the right time I guess. Left the game to watch the debate, loved Rubios comment that the Republicans were blessed with many good candidates while the Dems were looking for 1. Excellent debate for the most part!
