This thread isn't necessarily a thread to see who is obtainable, but who could legitimately put us into contention with a starting core of just Dame. Then u build around them after you've traded the farm to get this player.

For this exercise, you have the option of getting any talent in exchange of every other player, excluding Dame of course.

And yes, you still need role players, but for arguments sake, the higher upside players on our current team would be necessary to get this said player. Also, the newly acquired player has agreed to some Max extension, so we are guaranteed this player is willing to play with us for the next 5 years.

I will start with a player.

Kevin Durant. The duo of Durant and Dame is a legit big two. Adding Durant with Dame will almost guarantee that we could land a third big time player to compete for a title. Durant's age is young enough to stay in a legit 5-6 year window of title contention.

Kevin Durant wouldn't even know where Portland is unless he's going to Nike for meetings.

We can't even resign our star player how the hell would Kevin Durant consider us lol

How about you play along instead of saying he won't resign. You will see where this thread is going.

So far we have Kevin Durant and LBJ as true game changers. Anyone else?

We re-signed both Roy and Lillard - those are the only two star players we've had in the past decade.

So adding a "injury free prime" Roy with Dame is enough to build a title contender?

I was responding to the comment about not being able to sign our own star players.
But no, Roy didn't know how to play with a PG so pairing him with Dame would have sucked.

I'm trying to decide between Boogie Cousins and Carmelo Anthony.

The only answer is LeBron James. He is the ONLY player in the ENTIRE league who can singlehandedly lead a team to the finals with scrubs around him. He makes everyone around him significantly better.

Durant, IMO, is the best scorer in the league but overrated as an OVERALL player.

Durant has made the finals ONCE with Westbrook and Ibaka, which negates the 'west is harder' argument. He has significantly better teammates. He also had Harden the year they made the finals.

LeBron wouldn't have missed the finals once with that team.

Anthony Davis is the only other person I'd consider.

If I could choose one player to pair with Lillard, it's Anthony Davis above all

So you would trade the farm for Al Horford, Demarcus Cousins, Blake Griffin and Jimmy Butler?

The others I could definitely see though

uh..I thought it was a list of players that would be game changers..Sly already said LBJ, someone said Durant so the list didn't involve trading anybody..I think every player I mentioned is a game changer on any roster. If you read my next post I narrowed it down and Anthony Davis I would trade the farm for

This is a hypothetical scenario bro. I clearly explained it with the first post.

The point of this thread is to truly find out which players our fanbase is willing to give up the farm (everyone but dame).

I kinda think Kawhi Leonard is a touch overrated, but having said that, he'd make a very nice addition to the Blazers. I like his game and quiet leadership.
