...there were many things that Cashman could/should have done differently. I really don't think he can help that he's not a good GM because I really don't think he's very sharp. I know that The Boss originally gave him the title of GM but he was essentially George Constanza before that. ...But the Steins trumping one mistake with another by giving him another 3 years to rectify the mess he'd already created is beyond belief.
I think at the very least he could put an end to this Drew disaster. Joel Sherman had reported last week that there could be a chance that Prado could make an encore appearance in New York. It would certainly be a nice upgrade at the position.
to reiterate: Playoffs, who said anything about Playoffs....? Now prove me wrong Yankee Gods, ......... at the 13 second mark:-
I actually have a solution with our 'opportunity' (since there are no such things as problems), with late night talks, b/t Cashman and Magic: get LA to DFA Puiggy, one moment prior to NY picking Him up......send Drew back to bat boy school......(hell let anyone other than Brian Roberts play 2nd, at this point)...... Maybe Yasiel can replicate a 48-10 run, as in a week or two of His 1st MLB debut.....Any team with this kind of finish, is going to win a Pennant.......maybe nothing else, but a Pennant, Si...... Why have their been no transparency of Trashmans phone(s) records, to ensure he's been calling Teams, GM's, over deals, in lieu of his usual late night 'Dial-A-Date' calls............? ..... and Puig would be selling Boy Scout Cookies in the Park, Bronx, Harlem too, to support his local Little League Team, he plays Winter Ball for..........!!!
...yeah, Prado surely would have been an upgrade and should have never been traded in the first place...I also heard talk about DJ LeMahieu from the Rockies...and there were pitchers to be had as well.
...lol...you know what my stance has been even before the season began but no one foresaw the kind of season Tex and ARod are having and the Yanx are still in the thick of a PS berth. But simply making it to the PS is one thing, but being a championship caliber team is entirely a different matter. ...after their pathetic and embarrassing performance this past weekend I was reminded again of their flaws. They don't have an "ace", the defense seems to com and go, as does the offense, and there's very little if any depth on the bench. This is something the great Yankee teams of the past always had. ...championship caliber teams with a real chance to put their nearest competitor away or at the very least, keep them at bay, don't allow a visiting team to come in and completely curb stop them in the fashion the Jays did.
As someone said last week this team even after this weekend is in a position that NONE of us expected. I would have bet a months income that the Yankees would never be in 1st place after 110 games & be a dozen games over 500. But even if the Yankees make the PS the team is not built well enough to go very deep. No ace on the staff, no running game, no dominant starter to get a needed win & to many holes in the lineup. Yes Tex & A-Rod have had great seasons but NO ONE else in this line up has impressed me.
