Holy Cheetos Batman.......This is Fkn AWESOME, thank you very very much, I live and love this stuff, and could devour this technology daily for a snack. Ironic timing too, just last weekend, I spent all day with an Old NASA Engineer buddy, (and I mean old, He was with the Apollo Program, when I was still trying to get my first date)...... He had compiled a DVD of approximately 32 STOVL Car to Air Vehicles (Short Take Off and Vertical Landing). We watched His DVD only after we both watched a Documentary on Car's which could convert to AC, and AC which could convert to Cars.........(on the Smithsonian Channel)..... there's a few Documentaries on AC being converted to cars, and vice versa. One goes back in time to explore some of the very 1st STOVL's, and into the Future. The 2nd Documentary, deals with only development and design of modern era and future STOVL's. Numerous companies and Individuals; as we talk, are looking for funding, for their dream to become reality. Almost all STOVL's have issues, even the X-35 POS, which Lockheed is building, now 6 years behind schedule, and 165$ BILLION dollars, over budget. The House Armed Service Committe, 2 years ago, stated publicly, "we have to much money invested in the X-35, to cancel it.......say WTF, why in god's green earth did they allow cost, budget and scheduled delivery over runs to begin with.???? I know the answer to that, but won't bore ya' with the details, and it isn't a good answer, as well, the problem was allowed by the USAF & Armed Services Committee, to build first and test later, a big no-no in Aviation business........One's gotta' prove their Vehicles before they should be bought, you'd think, eh??? I mean isn't that the common sense approach.....!!! We saw some pretty cool stuff, yet, this one, really takes the cake for me. This is exactly what I've always envisioned with STOVL vehicles for the general populace, ie, if they want to obtain a Pilot's License with their DMV Car License, (not to forget my favorite Licenses of all, the Motorcycle M1 License)........ Rick, do you recall what James Bond Film used one of the 1st Car to AC Vehicles, the "Silver Bullet"??????? Here's what it looks like which may ring someone's memory, since I did see the flick, but never was a big James Bond fan, I can't remember which one of (geezus how many JB movies have been made)? as follows:
If I am not mistaken, this 'Silver Bullet' first flew in 87, and at that time, and perhaps still, may be the smallest Jet in the World, air speed is approximately 300 mph, or 172 Nautical Miles Per Hour........for those Europeans or down under folks, that would be: 260.69 Kilometer per mile.......
