It's a contract year. Unless he's a moron, if he goes 30-30 which he should do in his sleep, he's going to get 6 years, 36 million. If the Rangers don't give it to him, another team will with a RFA offer. This is exactly the type of player everybody wants. Especially the Bruins. My concern is not Kreider scoring 30+ this season. It's what he will do after he gets a big contract. I could see him be lazy over some of that contract.
He's always had the 'lazy gene'......I wish he'd settle down to boost his motivation. Ranger organization is starving for a leadership/championship face.
Well, maybe he's in a fog or out of it. However you put, his head is not in the game. lol So, I guess he' not a prime example as a leader on the team. Yes?
I think his head is very in the game, in fact I think he's sometimes TOO in the game. He gets in his own head and is very hard on himself when he hits a slump. After he was thrown out of the Wild game for boarding he didnt throw another hit for 2 weeks. But look at the quotes below. These are all very encouraging because it shows a guy who cares and is committed. Big year coming for him, mark it down. “I’m going into this summer with one objective and that is to use this offseason to do everything I can to become that kind of player,” the 24-year-old winger told The Post at the club’s breakup day. “This is a big offseason for me, and next year is going to be a big year for me within the team. I need to take the next step to become more confident and the kind of effective player that I’m counted upon being for this team and my teammates. It’s time for me to take the next step.” “I’m going to reach out to people and I have already reached out to people who I believe can help me improve and get to the level I want to reach,” Kreider said. “I’m going to work with a skills coach, I’m going to continue to work with my conditioning and skating instructor, I’m probably going to take some boxing lessons and I’m going to consult with a sports psychologist. Whatever resources are there, I’m going to use.” http://nypost.com/2015/06/01/for-rangers-to-take-next-step-so-must-ultra-talented-winger/
If rangers are smart and can fit it a long term deal with kreids should be a high priority. Unfortunately, the god damn cap may rear its ugly head and have a say in it.
Have to wonder is he saying it because the team needs him to OR because he will be a rfa after the season and so fsr he hasnt proven to be a top notch player for a 80plus game season.....pessimistic view i know but the thought crossed my mind Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
yea, on one hand i read all those quotes as "this is a guy determined to maximize his talent", and on the other hand i read the quotes as "he wants to make sure he can cash in"
I definately wouldn't characterize him as lazy. Streaky yes. He's best when he plays with a controlled aggressiveness, otherwise he tends to end up in the box.
