At the rate the Yankee starters are going I really don't see them going very deep in the playoffs....... This team has to be near the bottom of potential playoff teams when it comes to innings per start. Tanaka = 6.3 Pineda = 6.1 Nova = 5.8 Sabathia = 5.8 Eovaldi = 5.6 These guys are getting paid tons of money for a lot less work. How I miss the old days.
It's not like they're being babied. They're just the most inefficient group ever. Even when seemingly pitching a good game their pitch counts always seem through the roof.
I'll tell you Vic I'd really love to know who started this pitch count shit & when it began. And how it was decided that 80-100 pitches were okay but over a 100 was a no-go?
...been saying this all year...this BP has been taxed way too much so far...hopefully, the September call ups will allow Girardi to use some of the younger arms in certain situations and give the regular BP guys a break.
KC... bull pen 2.35 ERA Yanx bull pen 3.20 ERA ...KC also picked up Cueto and has a 13 1/2 game lead and can rest their staff and can afford to lose some games without being concerned...the Yanx cannot.
Speaking f Cueto, saw a picture of him and his possibly future bunk buddy Hanley hugging it up at Fenway with an article stating that he (Cueto) might free agent to the Red Sox. Fuck you Mr Dreadlock Rasta, all that will drop you in a playoff game is to chant your name like the Pirate fans did a few years ago. If I were Cuetos team mates I'd be suspect.
...^^^ good stuff guys........ call 'em "long relievers".......... Were seeing shit these days in MLB, unlike ever before, history is being made, at the games expense, IMO...... Pitch Counts, ridic-U-fkn-Less....... Let the Horses run, give 'em some reign...... Otherwise we got short inning relievers, and long ones, the day of 20 game winners is dying desperately, and CG Pitcher's a treat, but thing of the past.....burns my ass too.........!!! PS-Cueto shot the Sheriff.......!!!
No doubt having Cueto penciled in as an "ace" for the playoffs is very significant for KC, however they had a sizeable lead when they acquired him with their bullpen still being -imo- the biggest strength of their team. Yes indeed, it would definitely be a boost for the Yanks if they could get more length from their SP but they look as if their pen is going to make it (I hope) to September in one piece as the call-ups should help with some of the work load. Yanks do have -imo - from what we've seen these past couple of weeks, the pitching equipment and formula in place to carry them through September and hopefully, if, they can hang on and win this division, Tanaka could very well be a legitimate "ace" type to start a playoff series with Pineda and Eovaldi matching up with the opposition's 2nd and 3rd starters. There is one or two days off days (?) before the playoffs begin so the bullpen will get a break and be fairly rested.......I know, I know......it's WAY too early for this, but my point is the Yanks' SP ( as of now ) doesn't look bad going into a post season series and their bullpen is fine. Loooooong way to go. lol
Hanley and Cueto....wannabe Rastafarians..... Now there's one fkr I have never cared for, due to his lackadaisal mind set and play, his failure to excel when necessary, and the lazy overall fk Ramirez is, one of give me, give me mo money.......not the type who would stand up and say, What can I do for You today....... I lost all respect for Hanley, watching him here in L.A. as horrid a player as I have EVER seen. Good thing the Old West is gone, or HR would be pulling up daisies, ...... I know i said this quit some time ago: "If you could of heard the boos, and anger on the Bums fans faces, when Hanley struck out swinging, on a passed ball, and did not even attempt to run it out; instead He turned and walked to the dugout", or- On 2 occassions, in his last year in L.A. Gordon, cleanly fielded a double play ground ball, as Hanley stood looking into the crowd, and never moved to the bag........Yep, that lazy fk.......
